R.I.P. Gil Hebard
Just got news that one of the true gentlemen of the shooting sports, Gil
Hebard, has passed away. Gil was a pioneer in the shooting sports and a
wonderful business owner and competitor. He will be missed by many.
Thought those of you here that knew of him might like to know of his
passing.

Joe,
Thank you for letting us know.
I have been a customer of Gil's since the 1970's. Before moving
from Iowa to Ohio in 2010 my wife and I went over to Knoxville.
We had a wonderful visit. He was very gracious and full of great stories.
I am very sad to hear of his passing.

What a loss to the bullseye community. He was an excellent bullseye shooter and freely passed on his wealth of knowledge. He conducted a lot of tests. His book "The Pistol Shooting Treasury" is still the best bang for the buck for a bullseye shooter to have in his/her library. He ran an excellent business and always carried top-notch products. Except for the guns, at one time I think I owned about one of everything in his catalog. Nobody will ever fill his shoes.

Very sad to hear. I never had the opportunity to meet him but sent him many $$ in exchange for baubles that brought and continue to bring me much enjoyment.

Re: R.I.P. Gil Hebard
We ran our first Gil Hebard Open earlier this month. Scarborough Maine. I got permission from him to name the match for him. We gave out signed copies of his book to all participants. I sent Gil a clean target shot in the match signed by all the participants along with pictures. I got an email from his office today saying he saw the target and was pleased with the pictures. I'm quite glad we could start the tradition of the Hebard Open with him still around to know of the honor and of the esteem he was held.
During run up to the match I heard of many Hebard stories. One was that he shot a match where both the guys to his right and left cross fired on his target - there were 30 tens on the target. I was skeptical so contacted Gil. He confirmed the story.
The second Hebard Open is scheduled for October 6, 2013. Come on over!

A sad report, and a great loss to the shooting community. I've been one of Gil's customers since 1960, and one of my most pleasant memories was meeting and talking with him at Perry in the 60's. He will be missed.
