Removing bullet from 38 Special DEWC
Is there a way to remove the DEWC bullets from a 38 Special cartridge? I tried using the kinetic bullet remover, but I’ll destroy my work bench faster than get the bullet out, they just don’t move.
What is the way to do that?
Thanks for the advice.

It's been my experience bullet pullers work best on concrete floors.

I have a wood bench and there are bullets that won't come out hitting it BUT when I hit my metal vice they pop right out.Bestdentist99 wrote:Is there a way to remove the DEWC bullets from a 38 Special cartridge? Wear work gloves and use your non-shooting hand.
Go ahead and ask me how I know this.

Save the trip to the patio. Hit the puller hammer onto the face of a metal face deadblow hammer in your other hand.

This is how I do it. Remove the de-priming pin from a 38 SP sizing die. Adjust the sizing die in the press so the case only goes into the die to the base of the bullet. The bullet diameter will be slightly reduced and the brass case will spring back some. One or two mild raps in a kinetic bullet puller will pop that wadcutter right out.

Instead of wacking the puller on the floor I use a 2 inch concrete cap set on my workbench. In this way I stand rather than kneel, and have greater control over the process.

One of my many vices is the bench vise on the end of my workbench...it has a convenient flat anvil area for whacking things.
Now if can find the guy who keeps lowering the floor so I have to bend farther when I drop stuff.

Hitting something hard with something hard tightly gripped in your hand can cause a fair amount of pain.

And if you're smart, you would learn after doing it once.

Don’t hold it tight. Just tight enough to keep it under control when the head hits. There’s a knack to it.

Exactly, let the hammer do the work.Wobbley wrote: There’s a knack to it.
Hard to explain how to do it though.

It's simple.
Pick up hammers. Whack hammers. Put hammers down.
Train and practice on "head alignment and hammer control".

Why has no one suggested using a bullet puller instead? This Hornady Cam-lock bullet puller works like a charm...

'Cause the OP's trying to pull a full wadcutter bullet, which does not protrude above the case mouth. Nothing for the cam-lock collet to grab on to.jlow wrote:Why has no one suggested using a bullet puller instead? This Hornady Cam-lock bullet puller works like a charm...

Re: Removing bullet from 38 Special DEWC
My RCBS collet puller says it's only for jacketed bullets. Plus there is nothing to clamp down on with a full wadcutter.
