Atlanta Arms match ammunition
Looking to buy a few boxes to benchmark my 9mm handgun. Seems like the Atlanta Arms site is out of some of the better stuff. There seems to be a lot of choices both in terms of quality, bullet weight, and bullet type. Any suggestion for the specific ammo - I am thinking match 147gr JHP? Also where best to purchase it?

I had good luck with this ammo out of a Kidd custom Beretta 92 with Bar-Sto barrel. https://atlantaarms.com/products/case-9mm-115gr-fmj-match-amu.html

Thanks! It does look like great stuff but unfortunately it is not available as single boxes (really only looking for a couple of boxes) but only in case volume and I don't need 1,000 rounds of the stuff.

Yes, thank you - that is one specific option I was looking at but I was unsure of it's precision since it was not listed as one of their "match" ammo and it is of course also not available (wishlist).
Thanks for the links! I've seen the first one and am interested in both the AA 115gr JHP or FMJ, but they too seem unavailable which is the main reason for my post here.
The second article is interesting but their group size is not inspiring as are those in the third article.

The point of those articles is that not all ammo is equally accurate in all guns.
But you could try a couple off the shelf rounds that shoot well to see how they perform in your gun. Some of the 147 grain loads shot very well in the 1911 with a Kart barrel. i.e. Browning (50 shots under 2"), Federal, Remington, Winchester.

Re: Atlanta Arms match ammunition
That is true, but I am not looking for a precision round for my gun (I intend to reload my own), I am looking for a industrial standard to benchmark my gun's baseline precision. There is of course potential drawback to this i.e. the best ammo for most guns may not be the best ammo for my gun, but it's the best place to start.

One box of 115gr elite for the long line.
Two boxes of 147gr elite for the short line.
Get your benchmark over 150 rounds and go from there.
I've found AA to be nothing but consistent which I think is your primary goal at this point.

Thanks Wobbley! I did find that site using Google and it looks like they have the ammo I wanted. I only stopped at the checkout because it was not an encrypted site which means my credit card info was open to the web.

Use the phone. Unless the FBI has a wiretap, your CC info is secure.

Re: Atlanta Arms match ammunition
I will consider that.
FWI - I am certainly not worried about a wiretap, but when you normally do a credit card transaction over the web with a secure site, the vender actually never sees any of your financial information, it goes straight to their credit handling service. This of course is to protect you from any potentially problem vendor. You do not get that protection when you just call your vendor and give them your credit card info over the phone.
