National Match Magic - Greg Derr strikes again!

Last year my favorite San Antonio Area gun shop owner asked me my opinion about a 3 digit serial numbered National Match Colt.  The right side?  Looks almost new; a shame since the left side would make a grown man cry - the left side?  The previous owner admitted to using a straight slot screwdriver to remove the slide stop!  I told Chris what could have been a $1,500 pistol was now at best a $700 gun.  It was a consignment gun so I said tell him I'll give him $700 for it.  The next day I got a call to come and get it!  It's a 3 digit -NM from 1957; first year Colt reintroduced the National Match.

Here are some before and after I sent it to Greg Derr for refinishing. Greg really does outstanding work.  I haven't shot it since I got it back from Greg but I've got 3-1/2 boxes of Jacketed semi-wadcutters to go shooting with it.

Looks great now. Whoever did that to this pistol should be banned from owning 1911's (polymer must be more their speed) and sterilized just in case. Ok maybe that's a bit harsh lol.

Looks great now, the previous owner should not be allowed near tools or firearms.  Let us know how it shoots.
