52-1 Broken Drawbar
Back in June I had to shelve my 52 because I had some weird things happen in a match. During slow fire it doubled and later it wouldn't drop the hammer.
Yesterday I sat down and disassembled it down to the frame and cleaned everything. It wasn't until I went to put it back together that I discovered the drawbar was broken at the back.
I've searched the internet for a replacement but have come up empty. Does anyone here have one they would be willing to part with or know a source where I could find one?
Thanks

Since a model 39 is close to it see if there's a part from one that would fit.

See if anyone in your area does micro welding, that may hold you until you can find a part.

39/439 not the answer. I have both. Drawbar is different.

Re: 52-1 Broken Drawbar
I don't know the 52-1. But depending on the geometry of where the drawbar goes, I would try to save this via silver soldering the seam and adding a steel plate either inside or outside of the break depending on how the drawbar works. The plate needs to be silver soldered also.
This would be a work-around until you find a part, but it could last a long time. This is the kind of stuff gunsmiths are always called upon to do with old/obsolete guns, i.e. no parts available.

Check if this can be adopted - https://www.ebay.com/itm/SMITH-WESSON-52-DRAWBAR-EARLY-STYLE-SK-413/202639478473?hash=item2f2e410ec9:g:I3cAAOSwcBRbrT-a
May be contacting the seller can help. Looks as he/she has few parts for M52s.

Re: 52-1 Broken Drawbar
I think the -1 and -2 share the same drawbar but it's been a while. the original 52 is way different as seen.
I'd keep looking on eBay as they come up quit often or at least have in the past .. a -2 bar just sold for $40. didn't last long.
I've collected quite a number of parts for my wife's -1 so I can repair it if needed. the extractor is the main one to find along with springs.
as suggested I'd find a laser welder or micro welder to fix it..

Re: 52-1 Broken Drawbar
Those drawbars in the links posted here are for the very early 52's.
I'll have to to keep looking and call S&W. I used to have a contact there who got me some 52 parts but he retired.
Got a micro welder contact from Jon, that's my next move.
Thanks

Did you try calling Jack First Gun Parts ?
https://jack-first-gun-parts.myshopify.com/
They've come up with many parts for older S&W's that I couldn't find elsewhere. May not be shown on the web site but call and see if they can help. This is the place the phone rep's at S&W will usually send people for older S&W parts if in fact S&W doesn't have them anymore.
