Federal 45ACP small primer
I had previously come across the CCI Blazer 45ACP brass with small primers, everyone I've mentioned them to expresses hatred, they can really screw up a progressive press if one gets in amongst normal brass!
I did not realise that other brands do the same. Several shooters at my local club shoot new factory ammo and I scavenge mostly Winchester "white box" brass from the bin. This week there was some good looking Federal - I did not notice the primer pocket size till after I'd cleaned and manually de-primed. Grrr....
Luckily I manually de-prime and re-prime before loading so I was fortunate to catch them. They will now go into the garbage can!

Re: Federal 45ACP small primer
I've reloaded and shot lots of Federal and Blazer small primer brass.
I find them handy when reloading .38 Special and want to quickly reload some .45 without having to switch the priming mechanism on my Dillon XL650 over to large primer.

Ah! Good point DA/SA - I'd not considered that. One of the reasons I prime 45ACP manually is indeed to avoid having to change over the priming system on my XL650.
Hmmm. So they do have some value to certain folks, but, nevertheless, garbage can they go!

I have about 1K of Fed small primer 45 brass. I keep them just in case we ever get into another primer shortage.

Load them, shoot them for service pistol and leave them lay for the next guy.

I have only 150 of them. I keep them separate for revolver loads.

You can always leave them dirty.
When the brass rats become too annoying I'll drop a few around my firing point.
