Testing The Pardini 32 ACP Off The Shelf Barrel
Greetings,
A nice day, yesterday, sunny and warm.
Set up to test a factory Pardini 32 ACP barrel.
I swaged up some 65 grain 0.312" SWCHB bullets that I had good results with in 0.314".
Curious to see if the hollow base would expand to fit the barrel.
One reason to use the 0.312" bullet is that the shoulder of the bullet starts into the leade of the chamber. Remember, the Pardini barrels are throated for 0.312" bullets.
Also, I had the LabRadar set up along side my PACT chronograph to compare numbers.
The test targets are fired on salvaged targets from the Junior Small Bore shooters. Ignore the holes that are coming out of the paper. The 32 holes are nice and sharp.
All targets are ten shots. If the ticker tape shows less it is due to one of the chronographs not recording the shot and I deleted one or the other to keep all the shots in order so I could analyze the results. (Both the LabRadar and PACT offered the same numbers.)
All targets are at 50 yards with the aid of a mechanical fixture.
Target #0023 has a serious flyer at the left. Need to improve my bullet swaging technique.
Cheers,
Dave

Great test. If I can decode your notes correctly seems like you chose titewad? Seems like swaging is the ticket to lead bullets for the pardini.
Look forward to the next test. Your lucky to even be able to get to a range.

Another question Dave.
Are these bullets your swaged before you perfected your Swage in the other thread? If so, still impressive.

Sorry to stray off topic, but you mention that you normally use a PACT Chronograph. I had not come across that brand, but just took a look at their website, interesting. Dave, has the PACT been a good tool?
I tried a LabRadar, but it would not function on my local 15 yard range - too short and too many obstructions according to the Tech Support folks. Pity.
I'm currently using the latest model Caldwell with a Bluetooth link to my phone. It is OK, but I get occasional bouts of ERRORS and have to reset everything - I suspect that it is a phone issue rather than the Chrono. Frustrating if I'm concentrating on the gun and don't notice the error signal. Seeing those neat tickets you paste on your groups makes me jealous!

Greetings,
I use a PACT chronograph as shown in the image below. I believe it is the "Professional" model.
It is very old school; but, I like it as there is a jack on the back side to plug in a power pack using 6 AA batteries.
I print all my test strings and it will consume the 9V square battery in no time. (9V batteries are $$$$)
Also, the memory is volatile. If you lose power, all the data disappears. That is why all my targets say "STRING #1". I restart the unit after each test.
The newer PACT XP version does not have the jack for a power plug. However, there was a small run of PACT XP chronographs for archery that did have the power jack. Sadly, the one I bought died.
Might be hard to get parts as it is so old.
I also have the Infrared screens that work well in dim light. However, they need a battery pack of their own for power.
Most of the time, I use Oehler sky screens as they seem to be more sensitive.
I have compared the velocity with other chronographs and they all seem to agree within a few FPS.
Cheers,
Dave

I'm using a Labradar now, but not indoors. I also have had very good performance from my Caldwell, but it has no Bluetooth. It uses a more reliable long cable to the iPhone.
