Help please 200 gr SWC .45 plated
My favorite .45 bullets, Blue Bullets 200 grain SWC no longer appear on their web page and I'm totally out.
Question is what is a reasonable substitute for this round? Who should I try? Thanks. bob
ps just got a note from Blue Bullets....200g swc are discontinued...I'll give the below suggestions a try

Brazos 180 Flat Base Coated have shot great out of many pistols I've built. When I extinguish my stock of bullets I'll be ordering more of them.

Bayou bullets 185 grain swc or their 200 grain swc work well in my 1911

Summers Enterprises 200SWC cast lubed or coated. Assume you want coated NOT plated.

Re: Help please 200 gr SWC .45 plated
As an owner of Brazos Bullets, I must say give us a try. I tested 9mm 115 Blue Bullets and i see 4 grain swings in weight. Ours swings about 1 grain. Blue Bullets are also sized too small. (never figured that out). Our 180 and 200 swc's are superior in consistency as well. Jon Shue and Mason Talbert, both recent National Champions use Brazos Bullets.
Now the cost, that's a whole other story. We not only have top shelf quality, you will not find a cheaper bullet. So why not shoot Brazos?

I love the Brazos hi-tec 160 LSWC too.
Good price, fast shipping, great customer service.
The only downside is that the ladies in my local post office hate seeing 60lb flat rate boxes addressed to me🥵🥵

radjag: What load for 160 Brazos coated bullet? I'm usually shooting 3.6 BE w/200 SWC cast lubed. But, I've had to go all the way up to 4.5BE to get gun to cycle with the coated 160s. What's wrong?

I found 4.4 of N310 to shoot nicely, but when the gun gets dirty some FTE's. 4.5 of N310 solved that and still a relatively soft load. I've not tried BE.

Don't bother with the plated. I could never get good accuracy.

I'm using 4.3 WST with the 160 Brazos Hi-Tek Gold, they are super soft shooting and very accurate. I may bump them up to 4.5 because some brass doesn't make it to the net.

Re: Help please 200 gr SWC .45 plated
Well Jon, after reading this, decided to try some of these Brazos bullets, as I have a ton of Dardus 9 m/m, and 200 gr .45 left, as the indoor range near me will not allow uncoated lead heads. Ordered, and received today, some 180 gr .45's, and I think it was 180 gr .40's.
Looking forward to trying these. Have been loading my 200 gr Dardus with 4.2 gr of WST, and was thinking of trying 4.3 or 4.4 gr of WST on these 180's, does that sound about right. Have been crimping .468, if I remember, would I go similar with these? All shooting will be 25 yds or less. I also load a lot of 185 Zero HP, but am looking at coming up with a slightly less expensive practice load.
Thanks

Re: Help please 200 gr SWC .45 plated
I think the Brazos are similar to the Bayou coated bullets and the 45 caliber 185 grains run well in my 1911 with 3.8 grains of Bulleye and a .465 crimp. I have also used HP-38 with 4.5 grains of powder as well.

Re: Help please 200 gr SWC .45 plated
No desire to switch powders at this point in my life. I'm sure that Bullseye would work fine also, but the powder that I plan on using, and have alot of, is Wst, which is also a great powder for this. While I use a few other powders for pistol loads, those other powders are more suited for full power loadings, and have no plans on expanding my powder choices beyond the ones that I currently use. Some day I may entertain the thought of trying 310, but that would not happen till I am almost out of what I now have, and I have a lot of it.

Re: Help please 200 gr SWC .45 plated
I had to go up to 4.5 WST to get best accuracy from the Brazos 180.
Your gun may be different.
Good luck

Re: Help please 200 gr SWC .45 plated
Thanks, I'll skip the 4.3,and try some betwen 4.4 and 4.6. While I shoot my Dardus 200's at 4.2, 4.0 and 4.1 work also, but 4.2 seems a little more accurate. Gotta say, I opened up the package, and the Brazos look really nice, and look like they will be a lot cleaner on my hands when loading. Really nice even coating, looking forward to using them. Also looking forward to trying the 180 gr .40's. Does anyone have any experience with those with WST, or WSF? I have been loading 165 gr Xtreme's with 5.6 gr of WSF, for target shooting, and that is actually quite an accurate load, but would like to try some WST in that also. I did have a few test loadings with WST, when I was first working up some loads with the Xtremes, but I am not sure I know where those notes are.

Re: Help please 200 gr SWC .45 plated
Just did a little looking for some .40 wst loads, and most were shooting major at about 4.7-4.8 gr. Think I'll try some at 4.2 gr or so to start, as I am not looking for a major power load. Also may try some WSF loads, and was thinking of about 5.0 for a start. I realize I could easily just shoot my .45's indoors, but have 2 really nice .40's that I would like to shoot also. After looking a little more, I think I may start at 4.0 or 4.1 of wst.
