9mm 110gr Load?
So, I did some testing with Atlanta Arms Elite 110gr JHP and it shot amazingly. Now I’m thinking about trying to put together a similar load.
The first issue is that I can’t find a single 110gr JHP sized at .355”. All I’m finding are .357” bullets.
So, does anyone have any info on this load? Bullet? I doubt anyone know the powder, but any help would be great.

If enough of the driving band portion of that ammo is accessible mic it. Otherwise pull one of those bullets. It may be .357 . I was shooting with Doug Koenig about 3-4 years ago at his range in Topton. Between stages, I helped him reload some of his mags. The ammo was loose in can. I said to Doug what are these bullets, they have a cannelure groove? He said they are .357 110 gr JHPs. In typical Doug fashion, he leaves no stone unturned in trying to find the best combinations. Atlanta Arms was loading that for him at the time. FYI, it was .38 Super ammo.DWood wrote:So, I did some testing with Atlanta Arms Elite 110gr JHP and it shot amazingly. Now that there is a commercial load with 110's they may be proprietary .355s or they may just be .357s.

One of the best shooting 9mm bullets I ever shot was a 110 flat top truncated cone. I picked up about 1000 from a guy at a gun show in Illinois in the later 80's. He said they were State Police target bullets and a one time run and all he had. I never came across any more like them in the next 30 years either.
That bullet made my old 39-2 shoot like a Gold Cup with 231 powder.

Re: 9mm 110gr Load?
I took one of the rounds apart and here is what I found.
The bullet does not have a cannelure and it measures .3555, so it is not simply a .357 XTP loaded in a 9mm round. Seems that these are not commercially available from Hornady.
The powder measured 4.4 grains, but I could have lost a tenth of a grain in the bullet puller. The powder is a very fine flake or flattened ball powder. It is finer than any powder I have experience with. It could be a propriety powder or something not available to the general public. I have no way of testing the burn rate, but I am assuming it is a fast powder with that charge weight and bullet combo.
In the end, it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to duplicate this load, but I may still try to find something similar.

Re: 9mm 110gr Load?
When I was coaching a minor to beat his dad in combat, I loaded .380 bullets in 9MM cases for him that kicked like a .22, but never tried them at more than "social" distance. Now I have something else to ponder.
