Not Bullseye related but does anyone here shoot PPC and if so where can I find a list of matches/tournaments near me? Thanks

What is PPC? I shoot 100/200 Yard Benchrest with a 6PPC rifle.

Police Pistol Combat. Many courses of fire, but typically 7-50 yds with both revolver and pistol. Drawn from holster with reload. Typically police ONLY match. Civilian matches are nearly impossible to find. They’re snooty and don’t like outsiders, even to the point of making it hard for Army Military Police to compete.

What Jon said.
But, some states like Michigan have opened up to civilian included matches.
NRA hasn’t seen the light yet.

Isn't there a range in Las Vegas that offers this?

Many years ago, Canton McKinley used to hold a large PPC Regional. I would guess the last time was 35+ years ago. I don't know what happened to that match.

Thanks all, I got in touch with someone that operates a small league here and still holds matches. It’s a small league, maybe 12 people still practicing this sport, but it’s a place to start and gives me something to play with.

I've never understood that way of thinking. There are too many shooting disciplines like that.

Re: Looking for Info on PPC Matches
Met the president of the local league today. He let me shoot his ammunition since I didn't have any PPC type ammo loaded. I shot my gun... Yes I bought a PPC Revolver. Yikes! I don't have my own rig yet so I shot using his belt and such. It was a great introduction and he was a super nice guy. I didn't do half bad. I'm looking forward to toying with the new hobby.

And creative trophies too!
They had those for bullseye too BITD. Those were before my time, and I'm not sure if I kept any of my dad's, but we sure had an "us wall" in the basement in the 1980s and 1990s that was chock full of similar-looking plaques. He acquired more than a few, and my mom did too.

Re: Looking for Info on PPC Matches
Given what little I have observed from the cops that practice in our club, the rules might specify something like "you must empty your magazine" and "if one shot hits the target you get a point."
Boy, am I asking for trouble...

PPC is now an approved course of fire in NRA Action Pistol (Bianchi Cup) so civilians can shoot it.

Re: Looking for Info on PPC Matches
I used to shoot a lot of PPC in central Illinois. Loved it with a Kilhoffer tuned 686 and Star 148 HBWC and 2.2 of WST. If it wasn't an X - it was you... Gilman had monthly matches. ISP at Pontiac would do a charity shoot for Special Olympics and quite a few clubs would run them without turning targets. Sadly, I don't hear much about them anymore.

I shot PPC for 12 years and attained master ranking. Had a great time shooting against all the other teams and shot in the World Police games a couple of times. I kick myself for selling my PPC gun......

Whoa. 2.2 WST? How accurate was that at 50 yards? Just curious.

guys use that indoors in Michigan. We score it as a miss if it doesn't punch thru the paper.Dcforman wrote:Whoa. 2.2 WST? How accurate was that at 50 yards? Just curious.

I would bump it up to 2.7 for the 50 yard line. High X cleans are standard from the prone with it.
