Rink shipment from Germany to USA
how long does this usually take?
It shipped via DHL on July 1, and does not seem to have entered USA yet.
Anyone have experience on this?

Just received an order of fishing stuff from Australia. The order took 31 days to get here from the day it was posted. Sat in outbound at airport for 3 weeks waiting for space on plane.

For my business, I import goods from Europe every day. But never use DHL which turns into US Postal Service. I understand customs procedures and costs, more interested in the time to clear customs and transfer to UPSP delivery. Pretty sure the box is still in Germany, as DHL does not indicate it was flown to USA yet.

Re: Rink shipment from Germany to USA
I have waited 3-4 weeks for Rinks, but that was earlier this year, pre-COVID madness.
Currently at 8 weeks waiting on a shipment from Lithuania that has just been sitting on a floor somewhere in customs for at least 6 weeks. The shipper said it could take up to 10 weeks due to massive customs shipment delays.

Re: Rink shipment from Germany to USA
Rink are very good about advising a date when every grip will be ready to leave their place. DHL send an immediate tracking email. Usually takes a day or two to get to Frankfurt Airport (aka "The Black Hole"). In normal times just a few days in Customs, but might not get any automatic updates. Check the USPS link every few days. Usually about 2 weeks total.
I love Rink grips and Thomas is great to deal with.
But my most recent order disappeared for about 6 weeks. Then it was there in my PO Box! I got it the very morning I left for Ohio! Whew!!!

If you read the fine print in Rink's shipping info, it states that tracking goes dark until it exits US customs. And it definitely does. Don't worry, it's likely sitting in a customs warehouse in Philly, or Newark, or somewhere US-side.

Re: Rink shipment from Germany to USA
I ordered a set of grips from Rink on May 22, '20.....Rink shipped June 9, '20....disappeared for a while...cleared US Customs in Chicago on July 4, '20 and transferred to USPS....ever since then I get a text from USPS promptly at 1:36 p.m. each day, that the package is in transit to the next facility.....doesn't say what that is or when it will arrive. So it's been 30 days since it shipped....and hopefully one of these days it will arrive.
The unofficial motto of the USPS "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
You can very obviously see that it makes no mention of the COVID-19 virus and it's effect on their swift completion of their appointed rounds.....

Yep. I bought some parts from Denmark a few months ago. Made it to the USA in only 3 days. Sat in Customs for more than 2 weeks.

Grips got here today, so about a month in their travels from Germany....not as bad as the slow boat from China.

Re: Rink shipment from Germany to USA
Everything is slow. I’m still waiting on stuff from Dillon which has been sitting in LAX, customs cleared awaiting transport since 14 June; ditto a book from Germany in Frankfurt since 16 June (just looked and now in Sydney). Rink grips took a long time to arrive having been returned to Rink at one point. Also have another book coming from the US and a Nagant 1895 mainspring, oil bottle and screwdriver coming from Moscow.
It is time to be patient. All will arrive eventually and then you’ll think it’s Christmas...

Re: Rink shipment from Germany to USA
I checked today and the grips that were Picked Up by DHL on the 9th, have a USPS Tracking Number already, but DHL says they are in Frankford and being shipped out today. Will be interesting to see what actually happens, though I am not concerned about it, I am sure I will get them some day.

Re: Rink shipment from Germany to USA
If they arrived Frankfurt Flughaven, that is the forward edge of the Black Hole. They could be in the US already. You won't know where until US customs lets go of them, then DHL kicks back in.

Re: Rink shipment from Germany to USA
Once US Custom releases the package, it transfers to the USPS.....then it goes into the USPS black hole, until it magically appears on your door one day in the (hopefully not too) distant future.-TT- wrote:If they arrived Frankfurt Flughaven, that is the forward edge of the Black Hole. Re: Rink shipment from Germany to USA
The package arrived today, July 22, so 22 days start to finish
July 1, 2020 shipped by Rink
July 3 left Germany
July 15 arrived NY USA, ready for customs clearance
July 16 cleared customs and delivered to USPS
July 22 delivered to Connecticut
The box was pretty much destroyed, but the grip was intact.
(I could have walked from NY to CT in six days!)

Re: Rink shipment from Germany to USA
Just received a notice from USPS that my Rink Grips, that were ready for pick up at Rink on 07/08 and actually picked up on the 9th, will be in my P.O. Box tomorrow 07/27. Better than I expected as they were also made in less time than originally quoted.
