1911 installation of gold dot front sight.
Need suggestions for a gunsmith who can install a gold dot in front sight on series 70. I believe they use the existing front target sight,
Thanks in advance

An engraver might be what you need.

Most smiths use a dovetail front sight that already has the gold bead front sight installed. Sights are about $80 plus installation requiring cutting a dovetail into your slide. If a custom gold bead was installed in a stake on front sight, most likely a new sight will be used to install the gold bead then staked to your slide.

If you want to drill a sight blade, MIL spec circular electrical connector contacts come in several sizes and can be cut and glued/bonded in. The plating is very good.

The front sight is on an older Clark, it is not dovetailed, it is milled and set screw tightened from the from of the slide. I did contact Clark but have not heard from them.

Shotgunners use gold bead sights all the time, I looked for them on Brownell's once and found a bunch. I'd think any gunsmith could drill a recess for one in yours.
