Hammerli 280 Conversion Kit
I am considering a Hammerli 280 with a .32 conversion kit. My question has to do with zeroing my Ultradot. Can I put an ultradot on each barrel and then switch barrels without having to re-zero? If I have to re-zero each time, then I wouldn't be able to use it for rimfire and centerfire in the same bullseye match.
Also, does anyone know how well the 280 will work at the 50 yard line - especially with the .32?
Thanks for the help,
Jacob

not so good
It's not easy to mount a red dot on a 280. The problem is that most of the available scope mounts - and there are very few available - depend on using the iron sight screws, and those screws are not up to the task, especially on the .32. The carbon-fiber slide cannot be drilled and tapped, and the screws are a non-standard size, hard to obtain if they break. BME used to make a mount that attached using the more robust muzzle weight screws, but he hasn't made it in several years. In addition, 50 yd. accuracy may be iffy with the .32.

Re: Hammerli 280 Conversion Kit
I have a 280 with both .22 and .32 uppers, red-dot sights mounted on each. As long as the upper is properly installed in the lower, the zero doesn't change (mine has a bolt in the frame in the magazine well and a bolt on the end of the recoil spring guide rod at the muzzle; I believe there were four variants of the 280 with slightly different upper-to-lower mounts, and I think mine is the 2nd variation). I've shot the .22 at 50 yards; I've never shot the .32 at 50 yards -- maybe I'll try it someday.

My .22 cal. unit is a tack driver. The .32 is a different story. Depending on the barrel twist, it may be a good 25M gun, but not necessarily a good 50yd. gun. You will have to test and find out.
