Aimpoint Dots
Does a Aimpoint micro or any of the Micro size dots require a special rail or can they be mounted on a full dot rail?

A full rail is fine as long as you have the correct base on your dot.

They come with a mount to attach them to a rail.

Yes, but only if you order one with the specific mounting option you want. The Micro H2, I have two, have four screws on the bottom to attach any one of a number of mounting options. Just be careful and order what you specifically need.

Be careful though, the stock Micro H2 mount through-bolt is quite a bit smaller than the slot on standard rails. I think it's basically an M5 bolt. This means it doesn't always go back at the same forward/rearward spot. It's easy to get it back on-zero but takes a little care.
Aimpoint's Micro "TRP" mount is lever-clamped and has a standard sized square through bolt. It's almost as low as the regular mount, but is rectangular front-to-back, so it takes up more of the rail. Kind of a Good Thing, actually.
