CMM 208 1911 frame adapter
First topic message reminder :
I received an email back from CMM shooting sports. He said interest has declined over the years for the 208 style 1911 frame adapters. He does not think he will make another batch but said he would if he got 20-25 shooters who express interest in buying. Not a firm commitment, just reasonable assurance that you’d purchase if they were made.
So now may be your last chance to get one. He asks that you email him at info@cm-machine.com to put your name on the list. I think we can get 20 more. Who’s with me?

Re: CMM 208 1911 frame adapter
I was considering the grip conversion from Red Feather. I have a set from Larry’s years ago for my Xesse and they are okay, but the checkering a little too smooth. How do the CMM differ. Can you use 1911 grips on the CMM conversion.
Thanks

On mine, yes, you can use standard 1911 grips. My grips needed to be modified to clear the slide stop. I assume that's what you would need to do as well.
The other thing about the CMM is that the grips edges are much sharper than a standard 1911. More rectangle shaped than oval.

Re: CMM 208 1911 frame adapter
I have the wood ones from red feather. They are fine quality, but I prefer the feel of the CMM... that’s why I keep pushing for one more order to be done. I want to use my sharkskin grips with the adapter to mimic the feel I have on my 1911’s.Rush223 wrote:I was considering the grip conversion from Red Feather. Re: CMM 208 1911 frame adapter
Update. As of today he has 17 shooters wanting 19 grips. I told him I would take a second one, in case I ever want an identical backup or to sell when somebody wants one in the future.
Please if you haven’t already and are interested, please email and reserve one. All he needs is you to express interest.

I have his adapters (CMM) on 3 Trailside/X-esse and love them!!! I also have a set of the wood grips from Redfeather which were made by Rink specifically for Larry's Guns. I like the CMM grips over the wood.

I added a second and it brings it to 20. He originally said 20-25 would be needed. You could email and ask because we are super close. Thanks.1911a145 wrote:I ordered 2 if I added another would it put us over the top?

Re: CMM 208 1911 frame adapter
I have the wood and have shot guns with the CMM. The wood is beautiful, but smooth and polished all around. The checkering on the sides doesn’t give much texture to grip. The cmm can accommodate any 1911 grip. I plan to add my sharkskin grips to the adapter. I also like adding a grip spacer on one side to fill my hand in better and can also do that with the CMM. Just my reasoning. Hope it helps

Re: CMM 208 1911 frame adapter
He originally said 20-25 order. I assume it’s based on material cost and what it takes to make X amount of profit. I know lumber prices went up considerably, I’d assume the metal prices have as well. We are at least at 20 now because I’m getting a second one.1911a145 wrote:If there are 20 orders is he going to make a run?

Re: CMM 208 1911 frame adapter
The one I bought for my Hammerli Xesse. fit right out of the box, required a tiny adjustment for the grip, and I think I will shoot it great as last Tuesday I shot a 97 3x with it.

The wood didn't have enough "bite". With CMM, which come with a set of Herrett wood grips and using skateboard tape on the front and back straps of the frame I just liked the feel much better.Black_Talon wrote:Allen Barnett wrote:I like the CMM grips over the wood.

Re: CMM 208 1911 frame adapter
I shoot a 208s with the CMM grip adapter, grip tape on the back and front, and the wood Herretts that they come with. The grip adapter has been ground on a belt grinder/sander to round the grip in the web of the hand area. That area is so block-ish feeling. It wasn’t friendly to my hand but after it was shaped a little it’s quite nice. I hope y’all can make it happen and get these made. There’s just simply not much else out there for the gun for grips like this.

Anybody else? We are darn close. If you have or want a hammerli 208, 215, 208S this may be your last chance to get this grip.

"The Hämmerli Frame Adapter encases the lower portion of the pistol frame and provides the shooter with the same grip as the Colt 1911"

In this way as you finish the .22 portion of a match and go to the CF and .45 portions, the grip will be similar.

Re: CMM 208 1911 frame adapter
He told me we have enough to make a run. He would honor original cost for those on the list and probably have to increase cost for the extra he will make and list due to rising costs. He said he is pretty backed up and it could be a few months1911a145 wrote:Any idea of when they might make these? We got 20+ people

In simple terms it allows std. 1911 grips and screws to be used

Just a quick update, I got a response when I asked for an update. They said their shop is really busy and they won't be ready for sale for 6 months. Oh well I waited this long, what's another 6 months.
