Aimpoint H1
Anyone have a good source for a 2moa H1 now that they are discontinued? I have researched the alternatives, ie primary arms, holosun, nikon, and sig, and based on the qualitative data they just don't seem to hold up to riding on the 45 slide.

Re: Aimpoint H1
I know it is kind of a pain, but I have always been more happy with a frame mount.
If you are going to put a rail on your 45, I don’t think the rings and an Ultradot add that much more weight.
That said, saw an H1 on Amazon, and I think there might be a few on eBay.

Thanks Mike. I have a Bunker Arms gun that has an integral micro dot rail. So I need to stay in that direction. I saw the ones on ebay, but I'm a little concerned about authenticity. Thanks for the thoughts.

Not a direct answer to your question, however, a Sig Sauer Romeo 4M is holding up very well on my .45 for over a year. No changes in zero, or loss of function.

That's good to hear! How many rounds? Does that dot have the same mount pattern as the aimpoint/Primary Arms/Holosun?

The Sig Romeo 5 certainly does. I have it on a Kodiak mount on my Pardini.Jwhelan939 wrote:Oleg G wrote:Not a direct answer to your question, however, a Sig Sauer Romeo 4M is holding up very well on my .45 for over a year. No changes in zero, or loss of function.

Here is the mount reference link, should be a sticky somewhere:

A bit over two thousand rounds and the Sig Romeo 4M is still going strong. I have Sig Romeo 5s on my .22 pistols. Romeo 4 has better optics and 4M stands for Mil-Spec.

Re: Aimpoint H1
I'm using a Primary Arms on my 45, slide mounted. Maybe 1,000 rounds through it so far, seems to be working well.
I weighed it, the sight and factory mount total wt = 4.40 oz.
I bought two so I would have a spare.

Re: Aimpoint H1
Thanks all, I was really hoping for an H1, but I guess they are a thing of the past. I have a few primary arms on 22s, and I know the holosun is the same thing. I'm not familiar with the Sig, but it looks like the same dot as the PA with the electric control.

Re: Aimpoint H1
The Primary Arms sights are made by Holosun. I like the sights, but the bases are somewhat suspect, and I replace them with Kodiak Machine bases.
I have had one factory Primary Arms and one factory Holosun break the machine screw holding them to the rail. One on a .22, and one on a 1911 .38 Special mounted on the slide. Holosun will send you replacements free of charge.
Haven't had a Kodiak fail.
I like the Aimpoint H-1 with Kodiak base on the 1911 .45 slide.

I haven't broken the main screw yet on my Primary Arms base, I use a torque wrench set at 18 in-lbs.

Is the H-2 not an option? I think it's a just a little bit heavier.

It absolutely could be. I have 3 of the H1, so it's what I'm used to. The h2 maybe a good replacement. Isn't the h2 the one that has flip up shades? Can tubes be attached?

I have two H1s and two H2s. All have Shue shades on them. The only difference I can determine is that the H2's have a build up fore and aft of the elevation caps. If the H2's had flip up covers, it is now irrelevant.

I know the rear tube size on the H2's is smaller. Allgoodhits, do you notice a difference in field of vision looking through them?

I probably will now that you told me!Dcforman wrote:I know the rear tube size on the H2's is smaller. Allgoodhits, do you notice a difference in field of vision looking through them?

Now I have to go measure them. Honestly, I never noticed. I purchased the scopes with the shades on them.
EDITED:
My shades are the Blackmass Shades by Jon Shue.
These are measurements of actual shades.
H1 Front OD 1.180 ID 1.080 Rear OD 1.180 ID 1.080
H2 Front OD 1.180 ID 1.072 Rear OD 1.072 ID 1.065

Re: Aimpoint H1
As stated before, no I don't. Only the dot and the target matter to me. If, I am paying attention anything else, from a visual standpoint, I am not paying attention to anything that matters. It may be a factor in action sports, or multiple target acquisitions, but for my eyes in BE, it is a none issue. YRMV.Dcforman wrote:So... Do you notice a difference when looking through them?
