Finally made Master.
First topic message reminder :
My 5 year journey to MA just came to fruition. According to my records my first full match was in June of 2015 and I shot a whopping 1861 at my home club with a S&W 41 and a Les Baer both with irons. Seeing the master and high master shooters tear out the center of a RF target with a 45 one handed seemed like a pipe dream. I've shot several shooting sports and I can say without a doubt this is far and away the hardest I've shot. In my early matches it wasn't uncommon for me to flinch a shot so bad I hit the 3' wide pine frames, sometimes seemed like learning the 45 was like rolling a boulder uphill.
A couple weeks ago I shot a PR of 2589 at the same club with many of the same faces, much nicer guns though, a 208S and a custom 45 by Jon both wearing a 9000SC. This helped secure the MA card which just arrived today. Unfortunately I only shot a 2545 at the TN State Short course last Friday.
I have many people to thank for helping me on the journey. David Hargis is a local MA shooter and helped convert me from a plinker into an aspiring BE shooter, his advice over the years has been invaluable. I'm fortunate to have 3 nice clubs within a 2hr drive to shoot, thanks to those who run our matches. Jon Eulette has kept me shooting some of the finest BE pistols ever made and generously replies to my frequent emails. This forum itself has been one of the biggest tools, it's help me learn, share info and keep my interest in the sport.
Now to keep my drive and get to 2600 and perhaps one day HM. I'm just 37 so hopefully my body has many good years left for shooting.
See you on the range,
Zane
