From the UPS website: https://www.ups.com/us/en/help-center/packaging-and-supplies/special-care-shipments/hazardous-materials/shipping-ammunition.page. Short answer, "Yes" as long as the package is clearly marked.
US Post Office: https://www.usps.com/ship/shipping-restrictions.htm.

Am unable to find FedEx's policy on shipping ammo. Their website says it is possible to ship low grade explosives, am not sure about licensing or permit requirements."There Items may not be sent in U.S. Mail:

Thank you!
Okay, so has to be labeled hazardous, must be tendered at a UPS center, has to ship ground, and must be less than 66lbs.
Anyone have firsthand experience? UPS Pretty easy going about things?

You'll need one of these on the box.

Re: Shipping ammo
You are permitted to hand draw that symbol for small arms munitions
No need to buy a label
Or just print the image from the interweb and tape it on

Re: Shipping ammo
I ship ammo all the time... My wife has a small business that requires it (we ship ‘clean shot shoot-through gun bore cleaner’ for shotguns... which is ammo)
Easy peasey.. just follow UPS rules, label it properly, ship it ground and drop it off

Re: Shipping ammo
If the attachment works, here is a printable label for the outside of the box that was sent to me when I returned some ammo to CCI.
I couldn't find this in my files earlier or I would have posted it then.

Re: Shipping ammo
Just don't get caught doing it through the post office. I ship and receive ammo using UPS all the time.

The fine for shipping live ammo through the post office is $12,000.00. UPS is the best way to go.

Re: Shipping ammo
take the time to create an online UPS account,
print you label, place it on the box, and drop it off at a hub or with a driver,
you can schedule a pickup, but it is extra,
UPS stores generally do not accept Limited Quantity items, (that includes ammo)

Re: Shipping ammo
I use the following guidelines when shipping to another state:
California - all ammunition must be sent to an FFL
Illinois: Buyer must provide copy of FOID & State ID with matching ship to address.
Chicago, IL - NO Sales except to FFL
Cook County, IL - NO Sales except to FFL
New Jersey - email a copy of your Firearms ID. Must ship to the address on the FID.
New York - all ammunition must be sent to an FFL
Cannot ship to CT, DC, HI, and MA.
I got this information from Gunbroker Ammo Dealers.
It was up to date as of end of October

Re: Shipping ammo
FYI-you can ship ammo to Chicago and Cook County. It has to go to the address on the buyer’s FOID card.
You cannot ship ammo to a dealer for a private party sale. That’s in the FOID card law. It has to go to the buyer.
There are many dealers that choose not to ship to Chicago and Cook County. That’s their choice. It’s not the law.
There are dealers that won’t ship anything that’s firearm related to Cook County. That’s not the law.

Re: Shipping ammo
I shipped 22LR to California. UPS asked for the FFL License it being shipped to so that the address matched the FFL. Also all ammo shipped needs the proper Hazmat label for Small Arms Ammunition. ORM-D, Google it and print label. No problems shipping with UPS.

California is it's own entity. More restrictions than everyone else.

Re: Shipping ammo
Received an ad online, a roll of 500 of these labels is available for.... $110.96, plus shipping. A little spendy for an "occasional shipper", but probably reasonable for someone actively shipping ammo.DA/SA wrote:If the attachment works, here is a printable label for the outside of the box that was sent to me when I returned some ammo to CCI.

Re: Shipping ammo
Although under the Safe Act it became illegal to ship Ammo directly to a New York State resident, that part of the law was suspended over three years ago. It is legal to ship Ammo direct to individuals in New York State though not in New York City. Some companies like www.TargetSportUSA.com ships to me all the time though many large dealers like MidwayUSA will not. They claim that knowing New York the state could reinstate the law any time including while and order of theirs was in transit. So you need to ask your supplier directly but certainly legal for private sales.

Re: Shipping ammo
I made an UPS account to try and ship a Brick of .22's from NY to NJ for a Trade Deal Listed here. As soon as I put contents in, it went RED and wouldn't allow it. Going to take it to a UPS Hub today and see what's up if it can be done. Quote on box size & weight of 5lbs was $16.05..
I was able to print the symbol.

Re: Shipping ammo
I have a delivery coming today from TargetSportsUSA. I don't remember them ever using the Ammo Label on the boxes, but I will see when this one arrives. The ammo coming is stuff I had on Back Order and was shipped at the pre-stupid pricing that many see today.

Re: Shipping ammo
Lucky you are getting a shipment! What caliber?
I've ordered about 30 cases of different ammo from Target Sports in the last 2 years. They typically use an outside non-discreet packaging box without the label.
When you get cases of Aguila from Bud's - Aguila has the label printed on their boxes.

Re: Shipping ammo
Went to an UPS "HUB" in Oneonta, NY today and found they had no one who could use a computer to generate a Shipping Label with correct charges.
UNREAL
And they are helping to ship the Covid Vaccine ?
Will try to find another Hub tomorrow.
