Rimfire bullet profiles
Doing some ransom rest testing on some rimfire ammos. More out of curiosity than the need to find the best ammo.
We talk some about why different 22 ammo functions in some guns and not others. After a conversation with Larry Nelson a while back I got to thinking about bullet profiles... I mean, how different can they be, its rimrire ammo right?
Well, more than I thought... from left to right. CCI SV Eley CMP bulk, fed GM match (late 1990s vintage), fed gm target (current), aguilla pistol match, Lapa Midas+, SK Pistol match

Re: Rimfire bullet profiles
As noted in magazine and internet articles over the years the OAL of .22's vary as well as rim thicknesses.
I would think folks should be checking this when they have feeding problems into their semi-auto pistols. Bullet shapes where they engage the rifled lands due to the type of chamber reamer used can affect accuracy.
I just cut .010" off of a bolt face recess to relieve the bolt from cramming the round into the chamber and reduced the firing pin length too. The bolt now closes on thicker rims without binding.
