Aimpoint question
First topic message reminder :
At the risk of asking a stupid question, do the H1/H2 all have that visual obstruction at 4:00 - 5:00 that makes the field of view not an unobstructed circle?

Re: Aimpoint question
Well, Alex, if you want people to hit the translation apps, please spell the words correctly!!
"объединенных" not "обедененных"
And "Рой" with the capital R, please.
Best Regards,
Oleg.

Re: Aimpoint question
Yeah, I'm a bit rusty in Russian too. Couldn't find that damn "hard sign" letter on keyboard and switching to capital letters too. This is first time in more that 30 years I took a stub typing in Russian on otherwise normal keyboard. Yes, I know I could find mapping. But why bother. I probably will not need to do again in the next 30 years. But .... who knows!
Thank you for the corrections, Oleg!

Thanks for the comments! Sometimes I just can't tell if the humor gets through or not.
(This digresses a lot from this point so most of you may want to stop reading here)
As for John, the short story is that I met John many more years ago then he or I would care to remember. I had only been shooting bullseye a couple of years and still shooting open sights and had just started chasing Distinguished Pistol points. So I took my wife and very young daughter to Bristol (TN/VA - look at the map and you'll see why) since it was the closest Regional that might be big enough give out 3 or 4 potential legs.
There was this long haired kid that looked like he living out of a pickup and was holed up in a tent up by the Kettlefoot (Bristol) clubhouse. Apparently, sleeping with all the copperhead snakes that infested the area was no problem whatsoever.
Anyway, John and I struck up a couple of conversations, mostly based on the fact that we were about the only shooters with open sights, etc.
Frank Thomas (the guy who used to build portable target turners that used UHF / VHF antenna motors) ran the the match along with a whole bunch of hard working club members. The Bristol Regional was noted for a few things starting with the outstanding Saturday night dinners and the fact it was a 2 range system. You first shot on the 50 yard range, then moved to an entirely different 25 yard, turning target range. The interesting thing about the range was the backstop. As you began to look up, you realized it was really a small mountain. The second most notable was the fact that the lower range restroom facility was a very well used, actual outhouse.
And I did fire a 287 and something X's and got my first 10 points!
And, I've been running into him again and again over the years. The latest was my last trip to Canton. I'm still jealous that he made it to +2650 and I'm still the president of the 2648 Club.
He's a great guy and a great shooter and has good sense of humor, which is refreshing to find on the list.

Re: Aimpoint question
Cecil leaves out a few details, like the fact that he won the National Championship in Center Fire Pistol.
And I know that the President of the "2648 Club" is not going to break out his tiny violin to play dirges for me, the President of the "2663 Club" (although I do get to hang out with Ruby in the 2660 Club), but he does downplay his own accomplishments.
Glad that the humor gets through, at least some of the time. I was pleased to host Roy at Sunnyvale Rod & Gun Club in the "Before Times", and I was really happy to run into Cecil last year on the firing line at my home club in Canton. I am hoping that we can host matches again this year at Sunnyvale and see some of you again.
What were we talking about, again?
Oh right - I owe Alex an evaluation of his rings.

I must remind you that it is 2021 already! Milen, where are the pictures?
Glad you are back, and hope 2021 is going to be the year of re-union!

Re: Aimpoint question
At least I remembered that I didn't go to Canton last year and said last time. Maybe I'm not that far over the hill yet. Now if I could just find my keys so I can finish that book I was reading last year....
