Another twist on obtaining the unobtainium H&N HBWC
The airgun community has moved so far into using what they call slugs that they might as well be called bullets or firearm projectiles. H&N has no problems importing their slugs to dealers in the US. So why wouldn't it be possible for them to identify their 32 cal, .314 HBWC for use in airguns and ship them to the US without the usual import restrictions placed on firearm related components?

Greetings,
I looked into importing the H&N bullet.
The cost with the minimum purchase, shipping, and Import Broker fees made it undesirable.
I decided it was much easier to swage my own.
Cheers,
Dave

And I as well, am moving forward with swaging my own. My post was just to point out the inconsistency in our (US) treatment of projectiles used in airguns versus firearms. Nielsen Specialty Ammo, a manufacturer of airgun pellets and slugs specifically states that their products are to be used for airguns only even though the distinction between the two uses are small. H&N readily exports airgun pellets and slugs to the US but will not do the same for firearm projectiles primarily because of government restrictions. Go figure.

I was flying to Colorado Springs with checked equipment but had a can of pellets in my carryon. They found them and confiscated. I asked if they were used for fishing sinkers would that be ok?
Yes, of course....go figure

Yep, but I could only find one. There's probably more though. Why there are plenty of 30 and 35 cal air rifles and not much in between is a mystery to me.jwax wrote:There's a .32cal airgun???
As an aside, I asked one of the H&N dealers in the US if they would order some H&N .314 HBWC projectiles for me for use in an air rifle. Their response was simply the "projectiles were not for use in an airgun".
