What is your favorite powder for lead bullets in 45ACP
So what is your favorite powder for 185 and 200 gr. lead bullets in 45ACP? Any extra info like charge weight, bullet weight, accuracy and velocity would be much appreciated. No wrong answers here, I've just been out of it for awhile and am wondering what everyone is using these days. Thanks Much, Steve

I've had good luck with Bullseye, Titegroup, N310, and WST. There are plenty of good loads. The shooter is tougher to build than good ammo.
For bullets, 180, 185, 200, and 160s all work well.
4.4 BE and a 160 is a popular load.
For 9mm hardball, I found a good load early. By then, I had learned to stick with what works. Spend time perfecting shooting technique instead of looking for a magic load.

3.9 gr. of Clays or N310 under a 185 SWCHP.

4.0 Bullseye under 185 LSWC .468 crimp is what I like for indoors or the short line.

In my 625revolver:
Bullseye lives up to its name.
185 LSWC over 3.8.

Ditto on 4.0 Bullseye behind a 185g either HBWC or a long nose cast. I use a .467 crimp.

+1 on the 160 gr with 4.4 grs of BE
They are accurate but I mainly use them because of the cost. 146.00 for 2000 bullets from Quality Cast. That includes shipping.

Zero 185 LSWCHP and 3.8 gr N310. Clays also works very well. Bullseye is too dirty.

4.0 grains of Bullseye, 4.0 grains of American Select and 3.6 grains of E3. These range from the dirtiest powder to the cleanest. I use a crimp of .470" with W-W and Starline brass.

3.8 grs. Bullseye with 200 gr. RCBS 45-201-SWC, any primer, mostly Federal and Starline cases.
Depending on air temp., "phase of the moon," etc., this produces around 720 fps in my 5" 1911's.
10-shot groups from sandbags at 25 yards typically run less than 2", c-t-c.

4.1 gr f WST with either a 200gr or 180gr H&G68 style home cast SWC. .467 crimp. Starline brass for the long line and mixed for the short. It was the sweet spot for my wadgun.
