Sectionals?
It's late February and no word yet if we'll have New York State Sectionals.
Will they occur?

Re: Sectionals?
It will be up to your state. Check with your state association. I am shooting at Highland IL Sectional on 6 Mar. My home state (Missouri) does not do Sectionals so I have to travel.

Re: Sectionals?
Can anyone shoot in a sectional ? Or do you have to be a certain level of shooter.
What is the definition of a sectional ? I live out on long Island.
Thanks Tom

Re: Sectionals?
All are welcome. The Sectionals are the Indoor National Championship for Precision Pistol (Bullseye). All the Sectionals are fired at venues across the country and combined by NRA into an overall Championship. The format is .22, firing both a 900 and a team match. There are usually awards given out at each venue for local winners and NRA presents overall awards to the top in the Nation. (This last part has been deficient in the last couple years.) The matches are shot early each calendar year and the final results come out late in the year, with it being quite late in recent times.thessler wrote:Can anyone shoot in a sectional ? Re: Sectionals?
When I shot Smallbore rifle, there were three types of Sectionals, Open, Intercollegiate, and Junior. Intercollegiate were open to enrolled students and college teams only. Junior was open to Junior shooters only. Many Junior sectionals were run simultaneously with the open sectional, but not all. It helps to pay attention to the entry requirements, particularly if you have to travel.

Re: Sectionals?
Good Point! I was referring to the Precision Pistol Sectionals in my previous description, but there are several for other disciplines.
Re: Sectionals?
So, were there any Sectionals in New York State this year?
All I've heard is rumors.

Re: Sectionals?
Wonder what kind of turnout they had? Apparently that was the only one in NYS?

Re: Sectionals?
I shot last Saturday at Monroe-Chester Sportsman’s club 10 miles from the Woodbury Commons outlets (my girl went shopping while I was shooting ) so yeah there were others. They ran 4 relays, I shot the second, 7 out of 8 stations occupied. Great facility excellently run match. My understanding was they run one every year.
