Hammerli 215 mount?Parts commonality?
Anyone know if it can take the same Larrys/ Knapp scope mount that goes in the weight rail?
The old 208, not S, seems to have a different extractor from the S and 215. Did they make the new 208s match the 215 or is it also different?
Are 215 parts common to the 208s?
Thanks

Among all the variants, 208/s/215, etc., the weight dovetails (and I believe, the rear sights) are the same. All slides should be interchangeable. The front sights differ. The hammer and sears do have variations and should be matched. The trigger groups are different, even within a specific model, except for the 208s. I don't know if they are all interchangeable between all the frames. I don't think the 208s will fit the others.
All the above is subject to possible correction.

When I got my first Hammerli it was from the Osborn brothers at Perry. 208s were sold, they had a 215. I was told it was Identical to the 208 except the finish was not as great and the front sight was different otherwize it was the same gun at a lower cost I then got another a few years later a 208. Quite a few years later I purchase one for Adam, I think it was the 208S but it can be a 208 (S= safety added due to import restrictions) However he preferred the Baikal copy I made and used the Hammerli as his back-up. Some time later Osborn brothers gave-up so another had the Hammerli line at Perry, can't remember his name. He had Hammerli rep. at Perry to work on the guns. I managed to talk to him quite often. Hammerli up-graded the trigger so that the hammer applied less pressure to the sear therefore it would last longer plus easier to adjust. Hammer and sear have to be replaced as a set however the set will fit all the 208, 208S and 215, not sure if they made a 215S. Henderson is now selling Hammerli parts, purchased the business from Larry's Guns.

Wade Andersen?
Am debating a spare but there's no 208s in this sale..they have a 215 which has the same looking extractor as my S, and 1971 & 75 vintage 208. All of these lack the 208s style 2 stage trigger.
Are they even 2 stage adjustable?
What would you choose, if any?

I always heard the S portion of the 208S part number was to denote the sliding/adjustable trigger not a safety. My 208S does not have a safety.

From those I talked too claim the S was for safety. I could be wrong. What I'm referring to is the knob protruding out of the rear of the slide. On the other hand, I one time had the Hammerli catalog that described that the 215 was the same as the 208 except for outside finish and front sight as well as the Osborn Brothers saying so.

From what I've seen, the 215's have shallow grooves along the top of the pistol running perpendicular to the bore to prevent glare, while the 208's have grooves running parallel to the bore. Small difference.

Also, I believe that the frames themselves for the two stage vs single stage pistols are different. The later two stage models that do not have a trigger adjustable for front to rear position share the same frame as the "S" models.

The "S" designation is not for the "American market" pistols with a safety knob at the rear of the slide. There are many, many 208S pistols without the safety knob, mostly from the European market and prior to the change for the American market. Additionally the safety knob was added near the end of the Hammerli 208 production series. I believe the safety versions were produced during the last 5 years or so of production.
The "S" is for the adjustable trigger length versions; however some pistols may have been produced and shipped without the "S" designation during the transition.

On mine, the box says 208S, it has a safety, but the slide is marked International.
I was told it is an early model. When I searched the sr#, it was close to the bottom of the sr# range.
Who knows.
