JHP Bullets for 32 acp
Are the Privi Partizan brand JHP Bullets good quality? I see they make a 71gr.
Do they work in The Pardini 32 acp just like the Hornady JHP?

Re: JHP Bullets for 32 acp
Never tried Privi Partizan, but, AFAIK, the only really accurate and consistent 32ACP Jacketed bullets are the Hornady XTP's.
I tried factory ammo from PMC (Korean), not good. Winchester Silver Tip, horrible. Also the Fiocchi JHP-S (Italy), very poor. And yet the assembled in USA Fiocchi JHP (with the Hornady XTP60 bullet) is really excellent at 50 yards (albeit quite snappy).
There has been talk on this forum that Pardini USA might become an outlet for Hornady XTP60 bullets (after Hornady decided to stop supplying to the retail market), but I guess that COVID has killed or certainly delayed that prospect.
I guess that XTP85 Bullets are also currently "unobtainium!". They can make very good reloads as attested by Jim Hensler and others. Although, so far, I still prefer XTP60.

Well, out of desperation I just ordered 500 of the .32 cal Privi 71gr.
I’ll probably get to load them up in the next year or two and will report back on the results.
Here is the link If anyone wants to try them :

Re: JHP Bullets for 32 acp
Greetings,
You just wasted $100.00.
Note the advertised bullet diameter of 0.308".
If you are loading for a Pardini, the groove diameter is 0.314" and bore diameter is 0.306".
If any value at all, you could use them for fire-forming new brass.
They "might" stay on the repair center at 25 yards.
Cheers,
Dave

Re: JHP Bullets for 32 acp
Thanks Dave, yes it is for a Pardini. I guess I should just cancel the order.
I don’t understand why there are issues with bullet and barrel compatibility. Which is the problem the Bore diameter that Pardini uses or the variance in bullet diameters between manufacturers?
Seems to me that I could have a few barrels made with custom bore and twist by Bartlein Barrels and chop it onto 6” sections for install on a Pardini.

Re: JHP Bullets for 32 acp
Greetings,
For reasons I cannot fathom, the Hornady, and possibly other brands, 0.312" bullets in 60 and 85 grains shoot very well in the Pardini 0.314" barrels.
Actually, the last offering of Hornady 60 grain bullets were 0.311" (although the box said 0.312") and they still shot well. The original Hornady 60 grain XTP was 0.312". I still have some in storage.
It seems that Pardini, Walther, MatchGun, and other Euro manufacturers like to produce barrels of 0.3135" to 0.3145" groove diameter. In Europe, there is an abundant supply of 0.314" bullets for reloading.
The Pardini barrels are sent to the USA with no chamber. They get the 32 ACP chamber done in the USA (PardiniUSA Proprietary and is not SAAMI compliant.). In Italy, it is illegal to chamber pistols for the 32 ACP as it is considered a Military/Police cartridge. To clarify, the same barrel is used for the 32 S&W Long WadCutter and the 32 ACP.
A effort to convince Pardini Italy to offer 32 barrels with smaller groove diameters has gleaned little success.
I look forward to your test results with the Bartlein barrel project.
Cheers,
Dave

Re: JHP Bullets for 32 acp
Is there a business opportunity to make 60gr JHPs for the .32ACP? Or is it primarily for just a small number of BE shooters who compete...

Re: JHP Bullets for 32 acp
A couple of years ago I spent a lot of time and effort trying to build my own 32acp 1911 conversion unit. It was "Marvel like" in design concept. I used a Shilen barrel blank with a .311 groove diameter. I got far enough with it to shoot it, but it failed because I could never come up with a magazine that would allow it to feed reliably. I could get 2-3 shots in succession, but never 5. I did Ransom Rest test it, but had to do it single loading because of the feeding problem. That's not a very good way to group test, but my results with the .311 barrel in those tests were no better than what I get with my Pardini.

I think someone should talk to Smith and Wesson. Their SW22 would be so easy to convert to 32
