Scoped 1911 dimensions
I just bought a used Pachmayr pistol box with a scope on eBay. After winning it I read that some boxes don't have room for a 1911 with optic. I'm just starting out and would like to go as far as possible with irons, but it would be nice to advance to a red dot some day. Do you folks that have the Pachmayr boxes have enough room to fit guns and dot sights in them? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Re: Scoped 1911 dimensions
Greetings,
Depends on your Pachmayr box.
If it has a "back door" modifying the box is next to impossible for the average mechanic.
If no "back door", merely pry the two tray supports off. Next, push the staples back flush to the strips, finally, replace the two strips lower to accommodate your pistol.
Cheers,
Dave

I have an old Pachmayr box which will not hold scoped pistols. I simply removed the tray, and just lay pistol rugged guns on the shelf.

Your box appears to be the original design which will not fit a scoped gun. If it's like one I had, the shelf it sits on is part of the center divider that keeps the rear compartment separate from the front. BTW, that box looks fantastic. Almost looks brand new or maybe recovered but either way it pretty nice.
FWIW, I abandoned the OEM tray a long time ago and made myself a tray with stalls so each gun fits in a stall, is angled down towards the front, and all guns face down range. I didn't do this specifically to make a scoped gun fit in an older box but it works for that purpose too. I'll see if I can post a picture of what I did to give you some ideas.

Please post of picture of your gun box with a gun in it when it arrives. Have a yard stick vertically in front of the box for dimensions. I'm sure we'll come up with several solutions.
