Impressed with LP50 at 25 yards
Last night the wind was non existent, the birds were chirping, the sun was warm and I decided to take my Lp50 to the range and shoot a 25 yard National Match course for giggles, before I practiced with my 1911 Marvel unit one.
I didn't know what to expect. The results were very satisfying! It took 4 clicks of up elevation on my matchdot from the 10 meter zero. I did not adjust the velocity up-its's set at 485 fps with the RWS light pistol pellets. I shot a 98 1x for SF and then I shot a 199 12 X total aggregate for the TF and RF targets-I am using a turning target system too. Starting off with this target made me smile and forget all about the ammo shortage, and yes Mr. Zen was on my shoulder last night, I did better than normal with my 1911 Marvel unit one for a 25 yard 900 match. Next test is what the a normal breeze will do at 25 yards. I am beyond impressed so far! BTW the LP50 has been set at a 3.5 lb trigger pull too.

That is pretty impressive, I am surprised the pellets worked so well at that range and velocity.

I received my LP50C last Friday, and I haven't stopped grinning since. Nice shooting!

Ray,
The fit seems just right to me, they are the only ones I have tried.

I bought a few tins of the R10, they are the exact same size and weight but are a very loose fit compared to the RWS Meister. I really didn't notice a difference in accuracy to I used up all the R10 and switched to the Meister.

Re: Impressed with LP50 at 25 yards
Went to my friday morning bullseye match and shot a 286 followed with a 284. Good, not great scores for me but for the second match I was offered a LP 50 to try out, non zeroed.
While the others were shooting their targets, managed to get it zeroed and ended up with a final 98 rapid score target. The shots were dispersed horizontally which corresponds to the breezy conditions we were shooting in but I was impressed with the accuracy delivered at 25 yards. Also managed a 96 slow fire while I was learning the trigger. Probably a result of "New Gun Syndrome" but now I want one for myself.
While the backer was heavily used, I suspect that most, if not all of the pellets were tumbling as they entered the target. Could not decipher because the target paper was too distorted to figure out.
Would like to set up targets at various distances with a particle board background (fresh, if I could afford it) to determine the distance at which the pellets start tumbling.
Regards,
Crankster

Crankster,
I'm glad you had a similar experience. My pellets did not appear to be tumbling but I'm not going to try it out at 50 yards, I can't see how it would hold out to that range given its got a 485 fps pellet that only weights 7 grains!

There is also the HP version that can be set up to shoot around 680 fps.
Using a lower drag pellet, like a JSB 7.34 gr Exact round nose might be beneficial for 25 yards.

Re: Impressed with LP50 at 25 yards
Just an update, I shot a 900 at 25 yards today with what is normal weather here in SE PA, which is a light intermittent breeze. All my shots were on call, what felt to me like a normal breeze did not cause any drift. I did not shoot lights out in the SF stage (but did did not go below 90 on any SF target) but I still managed to shoot a 863.
It's going worthwhile to shoot this LP50C outside too!
