Red dot scope rings for 1911
I would like some input regarding good, quality low mount rings for an UltraDot Matchdot II (30mm) for the 1911. I don’t mind spending more for quality rings.
Thanks in advance for the input.

https://www.amazon.com/Leupold-Rifleman-Detachable-See-Thru-Medium/dp/B001HN5HA2/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=leupold+scope+rings+30mm+low&qid=1622547056&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-8
I bought the one inch model for my one inch Ultradot.
Quality manufacturer, low height, good price, look and work great.
It says "Medium", but I bought the lowest 1" rings I could find from this manufacturer - Dave Salyer recommended them.
I don't have time right now, but check if Amazon sells the same thing but lower.

These are my recommendation. https://www.amazon.com/Vortex-Optics-Hunter-1-inch-Riflescope/dp/B003GSRL7S/ref=sr_1_17_sspa?crid=2Y3SX7RD8DNNO&dchild=1&keywords=vortex%2B30mm%2Bscope%2Brings&qid=1622552855&sprefix=vortex%2B30mm%2Caps%2C180&sr=8-17-spons&smid=A86M66Z7Z0Z95&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExNkNBNlYzU0JJRFhNJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTEwMzAwMU80VTVDMFFFM01WOCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDAwMzA0MkFWNEtZVk9EM1hXTSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX210ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1
Another option would be the Kodiak 30mm slide mount. https://kcskustomcreations.com/product/kodiak-9000-30mm-slide-mount/

Re: Red dot scope rings for 1911
I tried the Vortex Hunter rings listed above and they are no good, at least the ones I got. On several occasions I had the scope slip inside the ring by a good bit (1/4") despite checking the torque. Vortex had them shipped back and supplied me a refund.
My favorite rings for a 9000SC on my 1911's are the Warne 99515 rings. They weigh a bit more but have a full steel crossbolt with all steel threads with an end nut, I refuse to use the lighter rings that have the crossbolt screw going into aluminum after having one fully strip with just 20 in/lb of torque.

I really like the Kodiak 30mm slide mount on my wadgun. Also have a set of weavers and warn rings that are nice.
One way to assure the scope will not move is to add a piece of cellophane tape between the rings and the scope

Is it made of aluminum or steel? Do you drill and tap for a new slide?
Thanks,
Wes

Wes, it is aluminum. And yes I can drill and tap for mounting. They are #8 screws for everyone's information.Wes Lorenz wrote:Hi KC,kc.crawford.7 wrote:Another option would be the Kodiak 30mm slide mount. https://kcskustomcreations.com/product/kodiak-9000-30mm-slide-mount/

Re: Red dot scope rings for 1911
John, at Aimpoint, told me you are working on a new way to mount the newest P2 ACRO sight. I bought a P1, but couldn't figure how to attach it to my gun. John says the dot in the sight will be extremely low. Before I buy any more sights, I'm anxious to know how this will work out.
By comparison, sight rings are starting to seem very ancient and obsolete. John sounded very enthused about what you are creating!
