finding powder
Where the heck can a new shooter find some powder ???? Been looking all over the web looking for a few lbs of WST or Titegroup to get started reloading. I'm seeing ridiculous prices on GB. Do I really have to pay $80 to 90 a pound ?

Re: finding powder
I check this several times a day: https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/where-are-reloading-components-available-not-a-discussion-thread.883031/page-29
It lists when reloading components are available. I was able to score WST and Titegroup recently at normal prices.

Wobbley - that is a good lead
https://www.brunoshooters.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1173
$160 per 4lb container for N310 is (if my memory serves) only maybe 25% higher than lowest pre-C19 prices. Not bad at all under the circumstances.
Primers are another story altogether it seems.

Re: finding powder
Is this the new normal?
We start putting our NOS on auction?
I see retirements in the future for those who planned ahead!!!

Re: finding powder
I was on the Hodgdon website yesterday, had 4 cans in my cart . Went to check out and it was gone ! Probably 2 mins too late. And I'm not quit ready to buy 10 #s. Probably should though.

Vhitavouri N310. A very fast pistol powder. 4.2-4.5 behind a 185 gr JHP bullet is “the Marine Load”.

Isn't Shydas pick up only? Bobcat Armament in Shelbyville IN has been getting powder in. Mostly rifle but some pistol and VV powders pretty regularly

Today, Hodgdon has several Winchester powders (W231, WST, WSF) and Hodgdon Titegroup available. WST is available in 4lb and 8lb jugs.

Re: finding powder
Can't really say I planned ahead but I am setting on a bunch of Vectan powders. Bought 10 half kilo (1.1 pound) bottles of Ba10 which Brian Enos had done some work with during the previous shortage. I really like it but reloading data is VERY limited. Got it from Graf's during their annual tent sale in the fall of 2019 at about $16 a bottle. At the same time I bought 4 bottles of Ba9 and 4 bottles of Ba9 1/2. They work well in light loads for 38 special, 357 mag and 44 mag. The Vectan powders are the cleanest burning and best powder measure flowing stuff I have ever used. Since all of their powders are in metric measurements it is like getting almost a quarter pound free with every bottle you buy!!

Re: finding powder
I have been using Vectan Ba10 for my short line 45 ACP loads for years. It's excellent and would probably work well for the long line as well.
My load is 3.2 grains of Ba10 under a coated 185 grain lead semi-wadcutter, seated with the wad cutter edge just a "fingernail" above the case mouth.
And that's not a typo: Three point two grains! A pound will go a long way.
