Load Data for Brazos 160gr LSWC
First topic message reminder :
I received some 160 gr coated LSWC bullets and am looking for load data using Titegroup or WST. I had a chance to talk to Daniel Miller at the Remember the Brave match and he was using Titegroup with these bullets. Of course that was back in May and I cant find my notes or remember what charge he was using.
Thanks
Pat

J.B bought up all the available 452AA a decade ( or more) ago.
I located a 25 pounder in Mason, Mich 3 years ago, but when I came back with the gold coins they told me JB got it!
Actually, Frank was the one who bought my stash of 452AA, and it was more than 27 years ago
Not sure what I'm going to do when I run out

PV=nRT!bruce martindale wrote:Good stuff but harder to light. Yes WST is slower than BE. You can look up powder burn rate charts to give you an idea of where things stand.
Generally speaking, lighter bullets ( relative to the standard for a caliber) requires faster powders. Heavier bullets can go with slower powders.
Powder burns in proportion to the pressure its at. On the ground, no pressure, it just flares up rather slowly. You can picture a powder that builds pressure faster than the bullet can move ( changing the volume of the vessel) will gain pressure exponentially as compared to a slower burn that keeps it under control as the bullet moves down the barrel. Anyways enough of that, you get the idea.
I’d always thought of WST as pretty fast, and up there on the burn rate chart. But the lighter bullet needing “more faster” burn rate makes complete sense. WST under my 230 gr JRN is a different fishbowl than the 160 grain. And rereading your prior post I now understand the sectional density comment. My skull has a very high sectional density.
Thanks for the explanation - that point of reference escaped me!
