Ultradot Matchdot II and rain
My Matchdot II failed big time during heavy rain at Canton today. Intermittent dot and water/fog between front lenses. Is this an anomaly or a known issue. I have older 30mm Ultradots that worked fine in similar downpours. Thanks

David,
I have two brand new Matchdots with me (now already at Port Clinton). You are welcome to borrow one if needed.
I have had repeated problems with tubes coming loose from the bodies of UD's. That is probably your issue. But I am no expert.

Lol they won’t do a damn thing at Perry! I had 2 brand new ones get soaked at Canton in 2019 and they would only remove the lens so I could shoot Perry and said send them in to be fixed! Would not give me 2 new ones even though mine were only 2 weeks old!
Here is what to do
Take a hair drier and dry them out. It’s going to take hours but it will work

IMO Ultradot sucks as a company, they avoid honoring the warranty on their mediocre products. There is another brand of dots that is much better, buy once cry once.
Fixed that for you James lol.

Go to walmart, in RV section get a box of damp rid. It's low on right as you approach the auto center
Re: Ultradot Matchdot II and rain
In Ultradot’s favor they fixed my dot on the spot here at Camp Perry. However it was impossible to refill the back part of the scope with nitrogen without affecting the zero. I elected to do that part after I shoot on Friday or some other time. I hope there is practice at Atterbury. There doesn’t seem to be a practice range or function test range available this year at Perry except Monday when we all spent the afternoon picking up score cards for matches most of us registered for a few months ago.

No affliction with ultradot, however in my personal experience attitude makes a big difference in the level of customer service.

Damp rid is calcium chloride and as such corosive.
Try silica gel cat litter instead.
At your own risk: if you can get a windage or elevation adjustment screw all the way out (I'm not sure if they come out, I don't have a UD on hand any more) blast some canned air duster into the tube. It not nitrogen but it's dry and you can get it at the store.

There is a Dollar Tree in Port Clinton. They usually stock big tubs of dessicant, for $1/tub + tax (obviously!). Buy a couple of them and some zip bags. You can figure the rest out!

The problem is here, is figuring out how to sight in your gun again with no range available to do so. Almost easier to shoot with water in your dot rather than destroy your zero.Merick wrote:Damp rid is calcium chloride and as such corosive.

Count the clicks as you run the screw down to bottom, back it out and do your business with dry canned air, run it back in to bottom, and finally back it back out to the count.Schaumannk wrote:The problem is here, is figuring out how to sight in your gun again with no range available to do so. or shoot irons.
Like I said, I DO NOT have one in hand to look at, there is every possibility the adjustments are captive with a E clip from the inside, and or a tiny detent clicker will fly into space if you run the screws all the way out.

Ultradot was able to get the water out and reseal the dot in question at Perry. No loss of zero. They were very helpfull!

Re: Ultradot Matchdot II and rain
Sorry I am late to this discussion. There was a practice / function range setup behind the air gun range. It was free, no armorer's chit needed. There were 4 or 5 positions. It was only 25 yards. You can aim shots. No commands, you just go shoot whatever you want. I don't know if there was a time limit. I was there 15-20 minutes and was the only one there.Schaumannk wrote:...There doesn’t seem to be a practice range or function test range available this year at Perry...
I wish they had publicized it better. The AMU armorer told me about it after they made an adjustment to my gun.
