Where do I start?
First topic message reminder :
First of all, I hail from the twin cities in Minnesota. My dad was really into this sport and I thought I might make a go of turning it into a family tradition. I am trying to piece information together, but there are a TON of things I need to learn, and I have to admit I am a bit overwhelmed.
After practicing the last few months, I promised myself I would dive right in after a trip overseas and I'm now back from that trip, so...
I believe I saw some matches scheduled this month at Oakdale, MN and a club I am not familiar with in St Francis, MN. Who do I call to get signed up for a match? The club where it's happening, or someone else?
I know I am going to suck it up hard on a first match, but hey, best to just get it over with, right?

Re: Where do I start?
I've moved on to the next step. It's been a few months since my first match and in that time i've had to contend with a lack of bullets, a full work and personal schedule and recovery from an injury and surgery.
However, last week I finally got started in reloading. I did close to 200 bullets with 4.0 bullseye powder, winchester primers, and 185 grain bullets. Half of the brass is star, and the majority of the rest is rp, but there is some mix in there.
I shot a few strings with the stars and had next to no failures, with the only issue being a failure to eject the very first round. Sime that was the only issue, I'm chalking it up to the gun not firing for a few months. After screwing around, i did two ten round strings at 50 ft with a 50 foot bullseye target and got 91 and 94 out of 100, respectively.
Tonight I sat down amd did some more reloading, but this time with 200 instead of 185. Three quarters of my supply is 200, and since the old ammo I had was 185, I am looking forward to seeing how the 200's work in the Caspian.
I have also learned that the other .45 pistol, a colt, has a broken ejector, so I will be looking for a replacement of that so I can get that pistol up and running again as well.
Even better, soon i can head out and get my butt whooped at an indoor match this winter!
