wire mesh brass barrier
I recently started outdoor matches and quickly learned the value
of attaching a wire mesh screen to your box lid as a barrier
to prevent getting hit buy brass from the shooter on your left.
What is the rule as to size of mesh opening and size of the barrier itself.
Thanks, G

1/4 inch “Hardware cloth” available at most hardware stores. Most people size it to fit inside their box for carrying.

Good luck finding a piece of hardware cloth less than 10 feet long! Maybe you could get members of your club to chip in to make a bunch.

3.9.1 Deflecting Screens - Shooters may use a screen fastened to their
shooting kit, or similarly placed, to deflect empty cases, provided the
screen is made of material such as “Hardware Cloth,” with wires not larger
than 1/16 inch in diameter and spaced not closer than 1/4 inch. Screens of
solid material may not be used.

I assume the rule about wire gauge, spacing and not solid material is so that the brass deflecting screen is also not a wind block.-TT- wrote:3.9.1 Deflecting Screens - Shooters may use a screen fastened to their

CMP Rule 4.5.5 "Pistol Cartridge Deflecting Screens" No mesh size requirement. "... provided the screen construction allows wind to pass through it. The competitor's pistol, hand or arm may not contact the screen or net."

OK
I guess I will make a barrier out of the "hardware cloth " about 2'X2' and try it out.
Thanks, G

My hardware store will cut hardware cloth to length, you might try different hardware stores. The big box stores won't sell shorter lengths though.
