Aimpoint dot brightness.
I'm switching over to Aimpoint from Ultradot and am very happy with the H2 on my Accuracy X. However the dot is either a little smaller than I like or on the next click up too bright. Has anybody found a solution for this? I've seen a few people say to basically get used to it….

I switched from an Ultradot to an Aimpoint H1 back in 2019. I immediately noticed that the Aimpoint's dot was much more "pinpoint". I inquired about it and was informed that the Aimpoint has a much more precision dot than the Ultradot.

The step change between the two resistors is too large.
I see the same thing but there isn't an easy fix

I actually like the Aimpoint better. I think the smaller dot made me focus on my trigger control more. Especially when dry firing with a Pardini on a blank wall.bruce martindale wrote:The step change between the two resistors is too large.

I have slight Astigmatism and my vision acuity varies from day to day, hour to hour. For me, the most consistent round clear dot is an Ultradot 1", but I prefer the form and reliability of the Aimpoint H1. I searched for and paid a premium price for the 4moa version - but I think that the only difference between the 4moa and 2moa H1 is the label on the side. It is a much smaller diameter dot than a UD 4moa.
I agree with Bruce that the brightness step change is too large - been looking for a specialist technician who might be able to customise that.
Very often I do not see a clean round dot - regardless of the brand/model - I have tried all of the UD's, SIG, Holosun, 9000, etc. I have now given up experimenting and have gone back to all Aimpoint H1's.
I have worked out how my eye "flares" the dot and can generally judge where the actual aiming mark really is. I try to work around it and stop worrying about brand/model/etc.

the step function is brightness is from what I understand they were intended to be used on rifles with night vision scopes. Not sure if this is true but it might make sense.
Also it is annoying

At least for the 9000, I noticed there is a very big jump in brightness from 7 to 8. 7 being too light, and 8 making the dot larger and too bright. I took them off my pistols and put them on my rifles.Toz35m wrote:the step function is brightness is from what I understand they were intended to be used on rifles with night vision scopes. I was curious of the 9000 had the same step function.
