Ruger 22/45 conversion to 32ACP
Has anyone wondered why Ruger hasn't made their own version of a 32ACP Target pistol to be the American version of the Pardini HP and Walther GSP pistols?
Their original pistol design was based off the Nambu 04 pistol design and its cartridge (8 Nambu) is just under 380 ACP in power. A .32ACP blowback version of their standard target pistol would have to be scaled up a small percentage to make room for heavier centerfire bolt and a stronger recoil spring but its probably do-able.
Just a random thought on a day off

I know this is not acp, but falls in the same category. Sorry guys, I discovered this post and was meaning to relay here because I know some of you would be interested, but something came up and I was not online for few days. Auction ended and item never relisted, not sure how to get in touch with seller if anyone isinterested.

People keep trying to push the idea of 32 target pistols, but widespread adoption just isn’t a thing. 32 fans are out there, but I would guess that for most matches less than 10% of the guns used in CF are not a 45.

WOW! Is all I can say on that 32 Long conversion. It looks like he added washers on the end of the charger handle to increase the mass of the bolt. I bet those Magazines were heavily modified to work with that rimmed case.
Chiz1180 - very true that the # of shooters using a 32 in the centerfire portion of the match is small (I'm a 22LR/45ACP/45ACP shooter myself) but considering that the Pardini and Walther are going for more than $4K in most website stores I'm seeing online, I could see Ruger saying that a pistol at even half that cost would sell. Or heck, they could develop a new polymer semi-auto in that cartridge focused on target work over pocket pistol self-defense where they focus their 32ACP work right now (Ruger LCP).

I use my 38 special model 14 in 25 meter center fire, but most of those guys use those European 32 pistols. I guess in that type competition it would be an advantage to have one of those pistols that can change to a 22 barrel also. You could shoot both the Center-fire and the Standard in 25 meters with one gun. I just use my 45 in the CF of a 2700, because I need all the help I can get.chiz1180 wrote:People keep trying to push the idea of 32 target pistols, but widespread adoption just isn’t a thing. 32 fans are out there, but I would guess that for most matches less than 10% of the guns used in CF are not a 45.
