The Kodiak 9000 mount looks pretty sweet. Haven't shot one with it, though.

The Kodiak 9000 mount is probably the best way to get the optic as close to the bore axis as possible and save a little weight at the same time when compared to the usual/traditional full length scope bases like a Clark Custom, the older Marvel, or a Rock River Arms scope base for example. However, it has a draw back.. If you decide to shoot anything besides a 30mm optic (Ultradot or Aimpoint) then you'll need a different scope base. And possibly a different hole pattern drilled into the slide. While you can't go wrong with an Aimpoint 9000, it is a heavy optic. Certainly something you can train the arm to handle but for some older shooters with elbow injuries sometimes a lighter optic is needed. Just food for thought. I do find the mount to be an excellent piece of equipment and have one on my personal 45.

I have the kodiak 9000 mount, I like it a lot. I have used it with a 30mm ultradot and a 9000, works greatwith both, it has one additional/diffrent mounting hole than the typical pattern, so not a direct swap.If you have a more typical scope rail and wish to keep it that way, Weaver #48364 are good.

I shot for a couple of months with the 9000 on the slide. IMHO, way too much weight going back and forth. Curchunk, curchunck, curchunck. YMMV.

I like the "curchunk" versus the snap of a lighter slide. Different strokes for different folks. If you like it real snappy get a frame mount.

I like the feel of the slower slide. It feels like the forward motion is actually helping me recover faster. So yes, YMMV.Vociferous wrote:I shot for a couple of months with the 9000 on the slide. IMHO, way too much weight going back and forth. Curchunk, curchunck, curchunck. YMMV.

I have a marvel base mounted on my slide all ready. Was needing recommendations on the best rings to mount scope to my rail. Thanks

The ones that come with the aimpoint 9000 should work fine. Thats what I am using with a RRA rail on my wadgun.

There were no rings that came with the scope

Weaver "Four-Hole Skeleton Rings." Item number 48364. They do not add a lot of weight and I have experienced no slippage.

No Aimpoint has seen fit to stop sending rings with the scope.Jake1911 wrote:There were no rings that came with the scope
