AP Dot options
As a follow up on recently posted by Zane Moseley info regarding Aimpoint Patrol Rifle Optic I wanted to explore it from stand point of using shades and aperture rings. So I purchased one. Following pictures provide you with my findings. I want to mention that in configuration you see there is no quantifiable weight difference. Obvious advantage would be the ability to mount PRO in this configuration using two rings versus one in native configuration.

Re: AP Dot options
So I guess that means shade is 30mm OD?

Yes, that is correct. After installing Reduced Front shade (same as for 9000Sc) both front and rear ODs are 30mm. Aimpoint is very consistent with threads and IDs in its dots.

Awesome! Same configuration is possible on PRO, - using thread conversion ring instead of shade. And vice versa. Shooter's side on both ACO and PRO is quite "shallow". Thus might be subject to effects depending on position of the source of light. And of course shade would provide better protection from Canton's rains.
