Try these exercises: Shooter’s Elbow (aka Tennis Elbow / Golfer’s Elbow)

Thank you for this. I've been having some nagging shooters elbow for a few weeks now. Did the exercises this morning, and definitely felt better while shooting air pistol. Hope it continues!

Re: Best remedy for shooters elbow
I used to have a lot of pain in my elbows from repetitive motion from work. In my case a copper bracelet took care of it. It took about 10 weeks for the pain to completely go away. Now I am dealing with pain in my knees. I have had really good results with Voltaren. It used to be prescription but is now over the counter.

1. Mueller HG80 Tennis Elbow Support SM/MD - if you already experience pain, do not shoot without this bracelet! And it is LEGAL to use in matches!
Thank you, Rob!
2. Gym - working with low weight dumbbells and equipment for upper body and arms (and rest of body too). Exercising Pectoral muscles and deltoids (and other in the same region - Trapezius / Latissimus dorsi, etc.) is extremely important in order to avoid bicipital tendonitis. Of course - bicept and tricept!
3. Wrist exercises!
4. Voltaren - try finding 2% version of it.

Ice, anti-inflammatory and rest. Elbow bands can be used to relieve the pain, but they don't heal. After healing or to prevent in the first place, stretching exercises help prevent tendonitis. If you have access to a sports medicine doctor, go to one and follow his/her advice.

Re: Best remedy for shooters elbow
My tendonitis (tennis elbow) was cured by a PRP shot (platelets-enriched plasma). I had persistent severe pain for over a year and tried all possible physical therapy and exercises to no avail. One thing I did not do was to stop shooting
After the PRP shot, I followed a strict regimen of rest, then physical therapy. Severe pain has been gone for over two years.
I am doing constant stretches and upper-body exercises (high reps, low weight). And I always wear a brace below the elbow when I am shooting. Sometimes I get low-grade pain but it goes away with a bit of rest and additional stretching.
Best Regards,
Oleg.

Heat then Deep tissue massage followed by ice is what physical therapists did for me . I had it twice. Pain free now

Before I started shooting bullseye, I developed a pretty severe case of something called tendonosis in my right elbow. It took months of physical therapy to get over. I did learn one good exercise that I still use, the Tyler twist. I see it listed on the internet for tennis elbow pain.

Forearm strengthening and a referral from your doctor to occupational therapy. It's one of those things where prognosis is very good if it's treated, but if you just sorta half ass rest it and maybe do some dumbells every so often when you remember it will linger for months and months.
It may help to shoot only airguns or rimfire for a while.

Thanks for this discussion. I'm recovering from shoulder and elbow pain, and at PT I've been using this doohickey called the BodyBlade (available on Amazon). It's helped quite a bit, and really good for strengthening the shooting arm.
