Model 41 issue Empty Model 41 issue

Post by funski Fri Jan 14, 2022 5:17 am

Have an older model 41 with a Clark Barrel.  First round in chamber,  pull the trigger and nothing,  no click, no hammer fall, no mark from firing pin.  I have turned out the over travel screw to a non-issue point.  Doesn't happen all the the time.  I can clear chamber and repeat and it works fine or not.  Very frustrating and am tired of the alibies.   Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Jim

I've found a good cleaning stops most of the 41 problems I've had. I scrub with Acitone and finish off with a bath in the sonic cleaner using a small amount of Dawn; works well.

I pull the slide back a bit to drop the hammer before putting the gun away. Cant pull it very far before the trigger is disconnected. So maybe it's not closing completely, and/or theres some wear or tolerance issue with the parts.

Another potential issue could be the barrel itself. It seats in the frame at the front of the lug. If that's out of tolerance, or its somehow crudded up, the breech face could be further back, holding the slide at the borderline of function.

Writing from memory, so correct me someone, if I err, but I'm pretty sure you can pull the right grip panel and see how far the trigger bar engages the sear arm.  It should go the full depth of the shoulder.  If it isn't, check the magazine disconnector, if equipped, and then look for other reasons if that's OK.  It could also be a broken (or weakened) trigger bar spring.

Is there any gunsmith out there I can send it to for repairs?
I prefer not to send it to Clark unless I have no choice.

Thanks in advance ----Again

KC Crawford would be my choice. He’s a sponsor on this sight as well. Heck of a good guy.
