Magnum LPP?
I’m finding that 3.9 bullseye behind a 185gn bullet is giving me unburnt powder on the bench. Using CCI 300 primers. Pretty accurate, but should i bump to 350 to try to burn all powder to increase consistency? Win WLPs be better? I think there is variable in how the powder burns = larger grouping. This is short line load. Thanks for any responses.

I consider myself SME shooting powder puff loads. Who cares if you have unburnt powder? I’ve cleaned the short line shooting 3.4 BE and when I’m done shooting CF and 45 aggregates it looks like I have a powder sleeve on my arm. So I personally would not worry about it. Boils down to can you call your shots or not? There are those that think shooting the most accurate load possible will help them shoot their best. And those like myself who believe in shooting an acceptable accurate load that does demand the most from us to shoot consistently well. So wear your powder with pride

I have been using both Fed 155 (mag) primers, and WLP's, with WST loads. If anything, the WLP's are hotter than the Fed 155's.
And I agree with Jon, if you have a reliable, comfortable short line load that groups decently, don't worry about unburnt powder.

If you were running lead a little more crimp helps.Wlw145s wrote:.469-.470 on JHPchiz1180 wrote:what does your crimp look like? may consider tightening it up a bit.

Cool. Thanks all. I’ll not worry about it. I was getting some inconsistency on lock back and wondered if part of the variable was powder burning unevenly. I’ll Chalk it up to my powder drop variance and fix that instead.
