FAS Pistol
Anybody try these pistols for Precision Pistol? Built by Chiappa.
Just saw a used one in the local gunshop. Looks like a possibility!

Re: FAS Pistol
Greetings,
I would not mind having an FAS602. Bear in mind, I do not shoot RedDots and would not recommend this pistol for optics.
Some parts are still available from Italy.
Cheers,
Dave

Re: FAS Pistol
I recently bought a FAS 602 and I like it very much.
The pistol I purchased has been equipped with a very short rail forward of the ejection port / magwell. This rails allows to securely mount a micro dot.
This pistol is now my .22 EIC gun and serves as the backup to my AW93.
The trigger is delightful - 2-stage adjustable and very pleasant to shoot.
The pistol has a very low bore line, which makes it almost stationary in sustained fire.
With the right ammo, it is very accurate.
The main negative is that it appears to be ammo sensitive. Before I replaced the recoil spring and shock buffer, the pistol was only reliable with Geco Semi-Auto and old CCI standard (dark blue boxes, not the current light blue boxes). After replacement it now shoots well with new CCI standard, SK Pistol Match Special and Geco Target.
But other ammo that I have is still no-go. That includes, SK Standard+, Wolf Match, Geco Rifle and Geco Match. Problems with ammo include cycling and occasional (one in ten or so) flyers, which leave oblong holes, making me think that the bullets have keyholed.
Regardless of the ammo fussiness, I am definitely keeping the pistol.
Spare part are available from Italy.
BTW, Domino FAS 602 pistols were build by the original company - IGI Domino. The designer of the pistol has passed away but his son still sells spare parts.
Best Regards,
Oleg.

Re: FAS Pistol
This FAS 602 is going for $600, in decent condition.
Suspect being made for Olympics, it would favor European ammo.
Interesting, but not for me at the moment.

Re: FAS Pistol
Well, I love my 602. It's my favorite pistol to shoot. Honestly, since I put new springs and buffers in I haven't had any of the ammo problems. $600.00 seems like a reasonable price.

Re: FAS Pistol
I owned a similar pistol, a BritArms. Lot's of hype but after some work it shot well and I did good with it. However it didn't last long! Main drawback was the top loading magazine makes it difficult to mount any Red Dot sight. Also the magazines started to wear out, even when the gun was new the magazines were expensive and as time went by magazines were not available. If you intent to shoot competition with it I would not buy it. You would be better off with a 1911 conversion.
