Re: Nygord Kart Conversion
It pretty much means Nygord set it up and fitted it to a lower. Therefore you know its been fitted to another gun if you do not have the original lower that was used.
And the factory 5 inch versions are fairly rare. You can tell if its original by the placement of the forward shroud attached screw and its location on the barrel as well as the barrel crown.
Nice looking example there from SW-52.

CR10X, I'm also seeing a cutout above the extractor that I have never seen before. Also first time I've seen a Nygord Kart as well. Was Don the only one that did that?

As far as I have seen, he was the only one that did that.

Re: Nygord Kart Conversion
Clark Sr did one that I considered buying at the nationals swap meet in the 90’s. Still kicking myself for letting it get away. I have a couple Nygord accurized Colts but I’ve never seen a Kart build from his shop. Cool find.

Re: Nygord Kart Conversion
I have a Kart conversion purchased in 1983 through the old Joe Chambers from Knoxville Tn. He fitted it to my Gold Cup frame. He also did a similar cut above the extractor but it only goes about .5 mm from the rib.
The Nygord shows about half way across the rib. Joe also reamed the chamber to standard dims. He said Kart chambers were on the small side and he did that to make it more reliable.
It was hard to get photos with the red dot on but here goes.
