Question about sight cuts Empty Question about sight cuts

Post by Tim:H11 Wed Aug 10, 2022 6:08 pm

What is there to be done with a 1911 slide that has a Novak rear sight cut and we want to make it usable for Bullseye with iron sights? Is there a Kensight or Bomar type of sight that fits into a Novak cut? Is there enough material left in the slide to make a cut for a LPA type of sight? What can be done? I'm calling on you gunsmiths and machinists! Thanks in advance

Thanks

So I see machining is required with this Nomar conversion sight. Is there nothing on the market that utilizes the existing cut and doesn't require machining?

Do the machining.  I run the Dawson on some Glocks.  It is fine for the Glock application but is NOT the precision sight you need.  Kensight might have what you need.  Before the low mounted stuff and Bomar was still around the Bomar required a D&T hole for the elevation screw.  We sometimes used the Kensight that looked like the Bomar but contained the elevation screw in the base.   These sights required a very tall front sight.

Guess I should have read this post immediately before posting mine.

Hi All....
Does anyone know of Adjustable sights that can be installed on the Springfield Garrison that would not require milling by a gunsmith? I've been on a number of sites and I'm not sure if I could do it . or should I have an able gunsmith do it
Thanks in advance!
