Giles identification
Hello, I have an unmarked Wadcutter gun that I suspect was built by Giles. It has the hammer, front stippling, and rear sight-scope base modifications that I've seen on marked guns. Mine also has a Kart barrel that has a flat filed at 12 o'clock, and the slide bottom has been filed for clearance rather than the receiver "dust cover." If any of you have a Giles gun, I'd appreciate your comments on my photos.
The slide clearance cuts, you can see how the bottom was relieved in front of the barrel lugs:

Well, this is a mess. Disregard the second and third photos. Anyway, if you folks have a Giles to compare with mine, I'll gladly email photos. Thanks

Not enough information. Need to see complete pistol photos. I doubt Giles built that because I’ve never seen original Giles with Kart barrel. Is there a welded tab/shim on slide on left upper side across from ejection port?

Re: Giles identification
I’m guessing it was a Giles originally. The rear sight has/is a bar/stud that the original Giles Wagon Wheel iron sight rib was held in place with. Giles also sometimes lightened his hammers. Looks like your Kart barrel is making full contact with slide lugs, so the tab/pad that is usually welded on the slide has probably been removed. But Giles also shimmed upper barrel lugs on some pistols.

Yes those are palm swell grips by Herrets. I have some. Prefer standard slabs.

Re: Giles identification
Sorry, I didn't see the first question. Yes, as Jon said they were made by Herretts. I bought them from Zane Mosely on this forum. I have a set on a Browning Buckmark that I like better because they have a palm swell and are rounded on the bottoms. These are pretty squared off and need to be contoured, which I've encountered on Herretts before. I have a set of beautiful herretts standard panels on a 1911 that I had to cut off the sharp edges around the mainspring housing pin with a razor blade. If you're careful it isn't noticeable.

Re: Giles identification
The stippling on the front strap is identical to mine. It looks like it started out as a Giles gun and someone replaced the barrel and rib to modernize it.
