Hammerli 208s
Hello fellow shooters.
I recently purchased a Hammerli 208S. Very fine shooting gun but I’m having some issues. The problem I’m having is some ammo won’t go off but looks like a good hits.
Other problems, the slide will not lock back at times . The ammo I’ve been testing with, was CCI target, SK match, and also Ely from the CMP which comes in a white box loose.
Ely has a velocity of 1090. Which is a little faster than the SK match and CCI target.
When I shoot the same ammo in my Nelson conversion very seldom do I have issues.
I very much like shooting the 208S and fits nicely in my hand and I love the trigger.
Does anybody have any thoughts on this or recommendations on a gunsmith that has experience with Hammerli’s.
thanks

A new hammer spring cured that in mine. I was told there was a run of bad springs.

They appear to be out of stock right now, but get a new recoil spring and main spring from Red Feather Outfitters and you'll be good to go.
I tried a recoil spring from somewhere else and had the ejection issue as the spring was a bit too heavy. Had a few failures to ignite as well and the new main spring took care of that as well.

After I bought my Hämmerli I ordered a recoil spring from Redfeather and also a firing pin. Being that parts are hard to get when I see him. I try to buy extra right now. Thanks for your recommendation so long.

Slide not locking back; you need to tighten the slide lock. If you tighten it too much it will not work. There needs to be some side to side flop.

Sorry, I misinterpreted your slide locking issue to be that the slide was not traveling back fully.

Make sure it's clean, a cruddy chamber prevents full seating. The hammer blow is absorbed by seating
