Aimpoint optics
Who has no dot on brightness settings 1-6 and a fuzzy red blob not a "dot" ?
Yes, I replaced the battery for grins.

Re: Aimpoint optics
which aimpoint? I have a small fleet of 9000s and do not have that issue with any. Settings 1-3 are NV, 4-9 are all a clear dot in appropriate ambient brightness. I typically have mine on 5-7 depending on ambient light.

On H1 and 9000 I use #7 setting. That’s smallest dot I can use during daylight.

Re: Aimpoint optics
When I first got my H-2 I thought something was wrong with it and put a new battery in it also. Anything under 7 is way to dim for me.

Re: Aimpoint optics
My H1s work as advertised. The first 6 or so settings are NVG as has been said. My Aimpoint dots are very clear especially compared to my Ultradots. I do have an astigmatism so all dots are fuzzy unless I use a diopter and/or my glasses.

With all of my H2s (5) I can see the dots on setting 1-6, as well as, those above that. When I am shooting indoors I point the dot at my black mat and turn on the dot. In the dark indoor lane and looking at flat black mat one can see all of those settings. Indoors I will shoot with a setting of 5 or 6 most days.

Re: Aimpoint optics
Night Vision Goggles...... So they actually DO serve a purpose. I wondered for years why all those lower settings seemed to be wasted. I guess that makes sense. I wonder if this is explained on the instructions, and I just didn't pay enough attention.
I've read about people here who feel very negatively about Ultradot, apparently because of a lack of durability. One person lost out on a new gun he was winning, because his Ultradot came un-glued. :-( I used to like the. Matchdot II, then my friend Dave Salyer told me the one inch model was better for Bullseye, so I switched, but all of the Ultradot tube sights have negative magnification, which is the last thing I want in a sight. Aimpoint sights are more expensive, but in the long run, I prefer them - and maybe I should have kept my 9000, but every time I tried to get used to it, the weight stopped me.
H-1 is nice.
H-2 is better.
But on a 1911 neither works for me.

Mikemyers:
Why did the H1 or H2 not work for you on the 1911? I just got my H1 mounted on my 1911 and seems to be doing fine. However, I did notice the mounting screw kept coming loose even with blue loctite. I went to medium strength and hope that helps.

Re: Aimpoint optics
With the Aimpoint on top of my rail, my 1911 feels less stable.
With the long Ultradot cylinder up on top of my 1911, that instability is gone.
