1911 optics rail also with iron sights?
Does anyone make a good full length optics rail for a 1911, that includes adjustable target iron sights as part of the rail?
The iron sights would ideally be low enough to not be visible in the red dot; the iron sights would be usable only when the red dot is removed.

RRA has one that is a combo rail and it's a steel rail as well if you're looking for a heavy irons / red dot pistol.

I'm not sure why you want the scope mount to include iron sights. If it's you intention to be able to remove the Red Dot to shoot the EIC match you should confirm if the "Rib" is allowed. The rule states the "Pistol is to be of the type designed for Military, Law Enforcement or other similar Duty use" If the EIC is you intent then you should be sure it can be used before spending the bucks to buy the mount and have it installed.

The combo ribs are authorized now for CMP EIC, Rock River's specifically.

If the pistol makes the weight limit with the rail installed...shoot308 wrote:The combo ribs are authorized now for CMP EIC, Rock River's specifically.

OK the "rib" is acceptable as long as weight limit is not exceeded. I'm not up on the rules being I was Distinguished at least 30 years ago.

Just a way to try (bullseye) with iron sights, as my 1911 has none.

And, if not already known, it has the same hole pattern as the Clark base so many of us use on our slide mounts. I converted both my wad guns over to the RRA combo. Figured if I had a disabled dot in the match I'd be able to just take off the dot & continue.zanemoseley wrote:RRA has one that is a combo rail and it's a steel rail as well if you're looking for a heavy irons / red dot pistol.
An additional note, you should replace the original UD rings with quick detachable rings that have been lapped in. I use mostly lapped Weavers.

PS: It came in handy this year at the Midwinter. I noticed the shooter I was scoring wasn't getting all shots off. When I asked him he mentioned he was having issues, but was going to finish out the match. As he was shooting open sights in the Service Pistol 900 I was able to pull the dot off my backup & he was able to finish without any further issues (other than the sights most likely being way off for him).

Being I have 2 Bullseye 1911s as well as .22s I have back-up. And back when the 1911 required by the DCM had to be very similar to the 1911 as issued to the military I had a Gold Cup for my "ball" gun as called back them, I use it at Camp Perry the first year the Colt Gold Cup National Match was allowed to be used. (1982)
Being the CMP is allowing Bullseye guns to be used in the ECI matches a long as Weight, Iron Sights and 4 pound trigger are used will allow the New shooter to have one of each gun caliber required.
If it were me, rather than switch to Iron Sights if a Red Dot failed I would have a second Red Dot pre-sighted in my box and simply replace the defective Red Dot sight rather than switch to Iron.
