Sight Rail for Optic Suggestions
I'm considering having installed a sight rail for an Ultra Dot on this new Les Baer Custom Heavyweight Monolith. Is there a sight rail that is minimally invasive to the slide? I'd like to be able to install it on-top of the existing iron sights mount without drilling multiple holes. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Consider the Rock River bullseye rail.

Easiest fastest cheapest way to do it. Buy EGW Bomar FF3 adapter. Drill and tap adapter for a Weaver flat base rail.
I used to make a one piece rear mount like that, but don’t have the time.

The mount Jon Eulette makes is excellent, and as LenV says, does not interfere with either front or rear sights. You can send the slide to Jon and he will quickly return it, expertly fitted. I am completely satisfied with the one Jon made for my LB PII.

I’m no longer making rails. My CNC friend passed away. Hopefully in the future.

I can make a custom one for you, and I can also drill and tap your slide if you send it to me. PM me if interested.Orion wrote:Thanks, Jon. Re: Sight Rail for Optic Suggestions
I've made a few mounts, use 7075 aluminum the strongest of all the aluminum alloys. The radius on the top of most 1911 slides seem to be very close to 12.5mm or 63/128" (1/2 of 63/64ths) so I use a 25mm ball endmill not sure what LB radius is but I'm sure it's the same as all others. I would not use a flat base or one with other than matching radius!! Most of the scope mounting don't fit correctly on Weaver bases as well as some rings. So I cut the base to fit the scope or Weaver rings. Mounting screws are best put as near the ring location as possible. I like 2 screws in pairs on each side of the scope ring slot if long scopes like Ultradot is used needing 2 rings. I don't modify purchased scope bases because the less expensive alloy is used, I use only 7075 T-6 aluminum!
