Why no LPP's in the market yet?
First topic message reminder :
I am seeing offers for several brands of "white box" 9mm (and other popular caliber) ammo from several vendors at close to pre-C19 prices. And recently there are imported SPP's from several vendors appearing, not yet close to pre-C19, but much less than peak "gouger" prices.
No Large Primers - I wonder why the makers/vendors are not moving to fill what must be a significant pent-up demand?

I bought from Miwall at the Crissroads of the West GunShows. First rate company.

1. Miwall Corp is an excellent company to do business with. I purchased from several time, and have had no issues.hengehold wrote:
Also plenty of primers found via ammoseek at Miwallcorp.com
1. Can anyone vouch for that as a valid business?
2. I have not used Rem 2 1/2 LPP yet. Is there any reason these are not well suited for BE match ammo?
Thanks,
-Trevor
2. Opposite - Rem 2 1/2 are great primers to use with BE match ammo, IMO!

I just bought a bunch of Remington 2 1/2 primers (and from Miwall too... solid company) and have been trying them for the first time. They work great. Only downside for me is they won't feed through my PALs auto-primer filler. Not a big deal but man... I really like using that thing.

Hmmm.... Lets see, if I drove up there/back in the RV over the next 6 days gas cost might only be $2,000.
I wonder if they do mail order?

Re: Why no LPP's in the market yet?
Interesting, after seeing the cart full of Winchester Primers in ND, I did another AmmoSeek search:-
Beebe Family Arms
Winchester #7 Large Pistol 1000 Per Pack 020892300088
FREE SHIPPING on $200+ $83.80 1000 = 8.4¢
The cheaper Russian primers mentioned previously are also still available and now I see several vendors offering Fiocchi LPP's at a price between the two.
OK, good, so it seems that LPP's are now getting out into the market, let's hope that production can meet the pent up demand and prices will then drift down to a "new normal".

Shotgun primers 209's have settled at about $65 a 1000 with Fiocchi and Cheddite about the only ones out there, have not seen a Winchester anywhere for along time, I don't think rifle or pistol will come down too this but lets hope? and when a guy can walk into a store and by 12 bricks at $350 a brick, there won't be any left for me.

A few clarifications. I bought cases, not bricks at 350/case. SCHEELS still has pallets of LP primers available at 69.99 brick...

Re: Why no LPP's in the market yet?
Scheels online is advertising Winchester LPP's at $85/brick. Unfortunately they do not offer shipping. If Scheels can get "pallets" and are offering them at $70/brick in store with no limit, then surely Grafs, FFF, Midway, etc., etc., will be getting supply in the near future. Fingers crossed.

I picked up a brick of Remington 2.5 LPP at Sportsman's Warehouse for $45 out the door. They allow one brick per day. They have a pretty good selection of of small pistol & Rifle but are limited on large.

Re: Why no LPP's in the market yet?
what one vendor has to sell is not evidence of what others have to sell.
I did a small bit of researching last year, and alot of the big vendors were 8-10 months BEHIND on recieving primer orders...
And as to why no large primers..
the whole crush in the industry is semi autos with small primer calibers, 9mm, 380, etc.
45 acp and 10mm are the traditional LPP standout in semi auto world,

I see that Scheels have a special on Winchester LPP's for $59.99 a brick. Sadly, no shipping and my nearest store is 500 miles!
Ammoseek lists Murom for about the same after shipping n HAZMAT.

Nothing wrong with Fiocchi and at $130 for 1500 sounds like they would like to become your brand

Re: Why no LPP's in the market yet?
So, here is my new beef!
Scheels is a big chain store operation - no doubt that even at ~$60/brick, they will still be achieving their normal "stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap" margin.
I love the service from Midway - I buy lots of stuff from them - but they are currently offering those exact same Winchester LPP's for $80/brick. And thereby charging a nice 30+% on top of the normal big store margin.
Now, it is possible that the fat margin is not going to Midway - I have no way to determine that - but, someone along the supply chain continues to gouge the consumer.
Hmmmm.

Re: Why no LPP's in the market yet?
I can confirm they aren’t price gouging. I have an FFL buddy who has access to the wholesale market for primers. They are a penny or two below retail when ordering from the wholesaler. SPP are cheaper than LPP. Must be more inventory.

Today Brownell's has Remington and Federal LPP in stock.
$89.99 for Remington and $79.99 for Federal, a little lower than before.
Midway still has Remington at $99.99.
