Colt Gold Cup Trophy accuracy improved
After many attempts to find a load that gets my 2023 Gold Cup Trophy .45 to group well enough for Bullseye, I gave up. Kart came to the rescue with an EZ-Fit barrel and bushing.
I spent a day with files and polish, and received much better groups, even with the horrible trigger.
KC has a new trigger on the way, so I hope for another positive step-change to the groupings after it is installed.
I was encouraged enough after my Kart experience, that I tackled a gunsmith fit KKM barrel on one of my blued Colt NM pistols. After I get it finish-chambered, I’ll report back for comments.
The pic is from my first load test after installing the EZ-Fit. The group is half the size of the stock barrel.

I have a 90s GC Trophy SS that I shot other sports with. Now I'm using to get started on bullseye. I want a Blue NM 70series when I can find one. That is good accuracy!

Good for you Amanda 4461. Did I see you used 5grs of Bullseye you could reduce your load to 4grs keep your same OAL and crimp and have lighter recoil and see what kind of groups you get.

Skid,
Funny you should mention using less Bullseye. After dropping my recoil spring weight to 15#, I loaded the Magnus 185gr LSWC with 3.9gr Bullseye, and the first group looked better

I bought one recently. Accuracy wasn’t great. I installed an EGW bushing based on my measurements and saw a marked improvement. It shoots on call now but I haven’t benches it, and I’m not a great shot.1911-45 wrote:I have a 90s GC Trophy SS that I shot other sports with. Now I'm using to get started on bullseye.
